I took out a $200 loan with Highland Holdings LLC/Midland back in August. They solicited me via email, I never applied with them and can't find them online. I've paid over $700 to them, so in January I emailed them the letter revoking ACH and wage assignment. They tried to take out one more payment so my bank put a block on any ACH withdrawals. Then I got an email from Highland that they were sending my account to National Credit Recovery. Today I got a call from CDR, saying he was calling about a bounced check. It took a long time but finally he said it was a bounced check to Highland, which isn't true. He said I now owe $350 and in two days it goes up to $550 if I don't make arrangements. Is Highland's legal? I cannot find them online so I think they're offshore. I'm in Oklahoma. What should I do about CDR? Thank you.

At last report (they've been reported in three different offshore locations) they're operating out Saint Kitts in the West Indies.
A collection agency cannot collect on an illegal loan.
Look at the sticky in this link for some help:

Sorry, didn't finish first post. It was CDR and Associates in Buffalo, NY that called today. The first person I was transferred to answered the phone as Cred-X Debt Recovery, then the next person said CDR and Associates, and he kept saying it was for check fraud but when I questioned him he finally said it was a returned check to Highlands for a payday loan. He said he can garnish wages and has to "process" my account in 72 hours and then he will add on an additional $200 in fees unless I either pay or make arrangements to pay. I cannot find anything about Highland Holdings LLC online, no website or anything, just this when I google their phone number:

May be an offshore entity located in Charlestown, Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The contract they emailed me (which I never signed) doesn't give an address or location for them, just a phone number 855-233-2684. I want to send a cease and desist but would like to know for sure that Highlands is illegal.

Thanks for any help.
