I live in Oregon and had gotten some online loans from a few different places. After getting help on this site, I decided to close my bank account and send email letters to the companies that I copied from this site. Yesterday I got a call at work from a company called NCS with the number 855-751-4633. They said they were a legal department of some kind and that they were going to serve me papers. They gave me a case number and said they were representing Anasazi Group (a place where I did receive a $250 payday loan). They said that they would press charges against me for fraud and serve me papers unless I paid them $430.
It seemed so real and I was so scared that I set up a payment plan using a prepaid credit card. My first payment of $107.50 is supposed to go through this coming Monday. She said the call was recorded and I verified who I am.
Now I feel so stupid for having fallen for their scare tactics. What should I do? Should I go ahead and load my prepaid card with money since I verbally agreed to that? Or should I let them know that I won't pay them and that they cannot threaten me?
How do I get them to stop calling my work?
Thank you for your help.

Take any money out the prepaid credit card...do not pay them a dime. Anasazi Group is an illegal lender....stay off the phone. No one is coming to serve you...

With regard to them calling your work, I'd just tell your coworkers you are victim of a scam. Blame your sister, dog, cat, parrot, cousin, whatever - save face and they will eventually give up.
