I was just served papers to appear in court for failure to repay check city. They are not licensed in Kansas.I informed them of this and offered a settlement.how can they legally take me to court if they are not legal in Kansas?

Did you check with the Kansas DFI to figure out if Check City is a licensed lender or not? Their website only shows 4 states where they have stores. I believe CC is licensed to lend online in KS.

Yeah….at first contact with the Office of the State Bank Commissioner to check the legality of Check City. If they are licensed, then they can take legal action against you. But if they are illegal, then you need not to worry.
