So I've closed my bank account and it's been 2 pay periods now since the automatic withdrawal stopped for the payday loans. I've emailed the lenders explaining that payday loans are illegal in AZ. There are a few lenders that I haven't heard from via email or phone. I'm surprised they haven't called regarding collection of funds or stating that ACH was denied. What does that mean if I don't hear from them? How do I know they received my email?

It might take some time for the calls to start coming in. You might not get them in the next couple of weeks. It might so happen that you start receiving calls from an illegal CA asking you to pay up 6 months to a year later. You have nothing to worry about though. When the calls do come in, ignore them.

Payday lending is prohibited in AZ. All lenders are illegal in your state. You owe nothing more than the principal. Don’t worry, they can’t do anything. Close down your old bank account and open a new one to stop unauthorized withdrawal.
