Arrested for payday loan

I took out a internet loan in 2010 in Ohio for $1k. They took out the first payment at the time. After the first payment I had money issues with the bank and switched banks. Now I received a call from an attorney in Michigan threating me saying there are 3 pending charges, where I would be fined $4k, possible jail time and revocking of my dl and he needed payment now. When he told me about it, I remembered the money I took out and made a payment of $300 with my card. Then we made arrangements for 2 more payments. Now the 2nd payment was rejected because the card didn't go through and he told me he would filing charges in payment was not made immediately. I truely want to pay it back, and now I just paid $300 on it. Can I still be arrested?

You can't be arrested for owing a debt in general... call your bank/cc company get these payments stopped.

No you can’t get arrested for non-payment of debt. Debts are civil case, not a criminal offense.

Total BS!!! Who was the attorney??? Report him to your local police department and call your bank immediately and put a stop pay on that payment!!! ASAP!!! You have been scammed!! If this was a checking account do a stop pay, if it was a credit card cancel the card immediately. And REGISTER WITH THE FORUM!!!! You CANNOT be arrest for a payday loan in Ohio..,it is prohibited!!!!!
