Hi! I need some advice please! I recently received an email from Paradise Pay Day Loans in November of 2009. It was for $300. I paid them back approximately $500 via direct withdrawals from my checking account. Shortly after, due to some financial hardships the bank closed my acct & that's when the harassment began. I was getting threatening calls at work on my cell phone. Every which way I could be contacted, they called. Out of fear, I looks on another forum and found a sample letter to send. I sent it to them, letting them know payday loans are illegal in NJ & by law I was only responsible to repay the original principal I borrowed. I received a nasty reply stating I signed a contract which is governed only by the laws for where the payday loan originated.... Which by the way was a Caribbean island. I never received any additional contact from them... Until now! Now I'm getting calls stating I will be served a legal summons at my residence or employment in 2 hrs... When I called back, the everything which the above gentleman experienced and was told, was pretty verbatim to what was said to me as well. I need help! I just want to know is there is any validity to these "charges" & "litigation". I am allegedly being charged with check fraud & intentionally defrauding a financial institution. HELP PLEASE!

you stop talking to them.if they call your work hang up without another word, and repeat.they are evil, stupid, and illegal.they will have a convoluted wrong answer for everything.once you realize this do not talk to them further, and file AG,AND FTC complaints.bottomline a piece of crap illegal offshore lender cannot do spit and is hardly considered a financial institution.they are slime.

To put your mind at ease, I would check your local court system's website to see if there is a pending case against you or call your police dept to see if there are any pending warrants. When they tell you there are not (and they will), that is all the proof you need that these people are lying.

This is completely BS. It is just a scam. Ask them to give you a refund in writing. Take legal steps against them. Don't believe a word uttered by the payday loan lender.
