I live in ohio and I have a loan with Great Plains for $600. I have since paid $515. They still have me down for 8 more payments at 121.37 each. Is Great Plains a legal lender in the state of ohio and I'd not what do I do next? Thanks!

first congrats chris on your victory(and yes it is a victory)to the humanoid stromeyer.this place has no license to lend so the terms and conditions are moot, and you are wrong in every way.the reason sites like this exist is because of unlicensed illegal criminal enterprises like this one,and humanoid losers like you.

Chris, you are right, no one knows the other person's situations and why getting a payday loan is needed. To Stromeyer, Great Plains is an installment loan, which clearly means paying back the loan in installments, like you would do for your personal loans. Giving your personal information online, is the new walk-in procedure. If someone steals your information online, oh well, because they can clearly steal it without you EVER applying for loans, credit cards and etc online. I've been there.

Now Chris, the lesson is when you get these installment loans, ALWAYS, pay them back early as possible and the repayment will not be 300%. Take care and I hope you were able to get out of this situation.

@ M_Stromeyer is there a reason you are on this site - or did you just pass by, to pass judgement? If it is the latter please don't, you know no ones personal situation other than your own..Karma will get those that judge others wrongly and hastily.

most of these people that send these letters are all fraud. once you find out about how much you're really paying and you ask them to provide valid information they start to panic and get really rude with you. i have had this happen to a close friend of mine and i had to speak with them and after i asked if the BBB certified they hesitated. We had to close my friends account and make sure that they could no longer take any money. just be very careful when applying for these types of things. they say they agree but later on they'll start to deny everything and scam you out of more money. the best thing to do is to open a new account and close your other one and block all calls for those people. they can not take you to court either because they do not actually conduct business here in the US. Good Luck! :)

@ Chris - Great News - so they agreed to $94, we must have been off by $9.00 somewhere - good for you-- remember you can pay on your own terms - prepaid debit with only the amount they are allowed or possibly better yet - Money order mailed CMRRR. with a copy of their response included. Glad this worked out for you!

@M_Stromeyer- I did check the website and I saw the terms.  I was asking because I am trying to get myself out of a problem I knowingly put myself into and am only looking for a little relief! I have EVERY intention of paying back every cent of money that was given to me, I am not looking for a way out to not pay! And for your info I did email them and they did agree to me paying the $94 left on the original balance. Now if it was an up and up company I'm sure they wouldn't have agreed to settle so quickly! Thanks for your concern but you don't know me nor what caused me to wind up in this position in the first place!

I went and took a look at the site where you must have taken out your loan.  In the "loan cost and terms" section they clearly show that a $600 loan has a 12 payment term at $121.55/payment.  So, total payback is $1,458.60 (12*$121.55).

Just curious if you saw that before you took out the loan? They're telling you right there how much it'll cost so how is it that it came as a surprise to you? I don't know if they are legal or not but it doesn't appear they are a payday lender because payday loans are generally repaid in 1 lump sum payment and not stretched out over installment payments like they offer.

I am new to this site but it surprises me that people willingly give over much of their personal information (name, address, social security number, date of birth, bank account info etc...) without thoroughly researching things.  THAT, to me, is scary!!

Great Plains lending is an illegal tribal lender. You should follow the instructions explained on the link below. The correct thing would be to pay the principal off, but after you follow the instructions on that page. They are not legal in the state of Ohio.
