A response to my letter from Cash Jar. Still Waiting on Nationwide Cash
Date: Tue, 08/09/2011 - 11:45
I am writing on behalf of Cash Jar in response to your recent email. Cash Jar strives to assist consumers with their short term cash needs and is concerned that you were disappointed with your most recent experience. We have noted your request for no further communication by telephone.
Please be advised, however, that your loan was made pursuant to Cash Jar’s license in its home country of Belize under the International Financial Services Commission Act of Belize, Chapter 272. Cash Jar’s contracts, including the loan agreement you signed, clearly designate Belize law as governing its transactions and provide all disclosures required by Belize and U.S. federal law. Cash Jar has no physical presence in the State of Illinois and does not solicit Illinois consumers via mail, telephone, or email; therefore, we are not subject to its regulatory jurisdiction. In order to obtain a loan from Cash Jar, an Illinois consumer must log on to the internet and access Cash Jar’s website, just as you did. You received documents in conjunction with your loan fully describing how the finance fees are applied and your repayment options, and you agreed to these terms, including the applicability of Belize (not Illinois ) law to the transaction, with electronic signatures in multiple places. Should you require another copy of your documents, or if you need clarification on points referenced in the documents, please contact us. A careful review of those documents should resolve your concerns regarding the terms applicable to your loan.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, we have agreed to settle the balance owed and have marked your account “paid in full†as of today’s date. Cash Jar is taking this action without legal obligation to do so because of our ongoing commitment to customer satisfaction and for no other reason. We hope that this action on our part will resolve your concerns.
Thank you for the opportunity to clarify this matter and address your concerns.

I am pretty happy about receiving my first paid in full letter. I would still like to fight for a refund. I borrowed $975.00 and as of 7/26 I paid a total of 2,481.25 and I STILL owed $700 according to them!! Since the maximum fee is 15.50 per 100 in Illinois(see what I have learned from this site!!:-D) my fee should be 150.00 & that is if they were legal. I have overpaid them $1,125! I mentioned all of this in my original letter but as you see from their response it was not addressed. So at this point do I send another email reiterating my request for a refund or do I just go ahead and send my complaints to the BBB, AG & the FTC ?
Thanks for all of the information and help. I would STILL be missing payments on my gas, electric sometimes rent if this site was not avalible. Thank you!!

I would do both - demand the refund and file the complaints. H
I would do both - demand the refund and file the complaints.
Here's what I would say:
"I appreciate acknowledgement that my account has been paid in full, however, you made no mention of how you intend to reimburse me for the overpayment I made. Please be assured that, as I do not reside in Belize, I am not subject to the laws of Belize. I know that the laws of my state prevail in this matter. As I stated in my previous email, I am owed a refund of $1506.25. When can I expect to receive it?"
I totally agree with OhioGal1 ask for the additional overpayment
I totally agree with OhioGal1 ask for the additional overpayment you are entitled to! Now I can tell you first hand Nationwide cash won't be that way they will harrass you by emails and fax mind you at work aswell. They sent a fax to my job I replied with KICK ROCKS!!! back they were asking for my information!!! Don't be intimidated by them and their tactics hold your ground!
Ohiogal1 - That is exactly what I am going to do. I thought it w
Ohiogal1 - That is exactly what I am going to do. I thought it was so funny how they made no mention of my refund like I never mentioned it. I will keep you posted on this ongoing saga.
Danettere I STILL have not heard ANYTHING from Nationwide cash. What's that about ?? I am going to resend the letter to them and file my complaints. I'll keep you posted. Oh, did Nationwide ever stop calling or faxing your job ?
You may not hear anything right off it may take atleast a month
You may not hear anything right off it may take atleast a month or so before they contact you but trust me they will contact you either by email or by your phone numbers given. They couldn't get in touch with me at my numbers because I blocked them from calling me. A few more months went pass and then they started with my job. I would make sure you keep all emails and things because they are relentless with trying to offer you some kind of deal, don't take it they are full of CRAP!! Just hold your ground and stay steadfast in all things you are doing don't let their scare tactics deter you. They are illegal in NJ and they know it!!!

I got the exact same response in an email I got today with my state listed in place of Illinois. Guess they have this BS response down pat. Just glad to have one more lender off the list.
CashJar form letter
I sent out a letter to them last week and voila! two days later I get the same form letter basically saying "We don't have to do this, but since we're so nice we'll accept $1400 as full payment on your $1000 loan"
Thanks to everyone on here for all the information about these thieves..... Saved me A LOT of money!
