I received a phone call about two weeks ago from NCS Offices (1-855-756-2615), claiming to court summons me, unless I make an agreement of a settlement. The settlement is for a payday loan from Mass Street Group, I got a loan for $200 and NCS is wanting to settle for $320.

I set up a payment plan with them of $50 every two weeks, I live paycheck to paycheck and I ran a little short and contacted them about possibly lowering my payment plan to prevent this from further happening. The "paralegal" handed the phone over to the "lawyer" who was extremely rude and belittling towards me and making threats that if I did not do the full payment plus a payment $100 in the beginning of January, they were going to cancel my settlement and sue me.

I have an email on December 3rd from Mass Street Group stating my loan was sent to collections (it has only been one month since I stopped being able to pay on it, but was planning to pay it off in February), the collections name they gave me was National Credit Adjustors (1-866-660-1626). Why would they automatically threaten a court summons? Aren't they supposed to attempt to collect the debt from me for a while before doing this?

I've read in many places that this is a scam, but I'm not sure. When you call either number the message comes up as:

In the event that you have recently been served a court summons in regard to a lawsuit from this office please ask to speak to someone from the legal outsources department
This an attempt to collect a debt any information obtained will be used for that purpose.

This is a scam. Mass Street Group is an illegal payday loan lender. So, you're only supposed to pay back the principal amount. Secondly, you can't be sued for an illegal payday loan.
