collections in NY for PDL?

Hey
I got 2 emails from 2 different PDL companies stating they sent my account to collections (i sent them the letters that my account is blocked). can they do this if PDL's are illegal in New York (where i live)? the companies are National Group LLC and the other is Horizon Opportunities. They said they sent my accounts to National Credit Adjusters 866-660-1626. Are the legit? how can you tell if a collection agency is legit. FYI: ive paid way more on these loans with finance fees....i took out $250 with each company and have paid almost 600 to both....

Payday lending is prohibited in New York. Don’t pay them an extra dime other than the principal if you owe this debt. Don’t worry, illegal lenders can’t do anything.
