Received a call saying I was to be served tomorrow

Hello,
I received a phone call today from a private number and a woman who was a private courior and had a package that may contain legal documents and would be at my work and home between 12-5 and for me to have identification for signature of possible legal documents. I was given a phone number 866-261-8504 with a case number..I have not yet called the number and was wanting some thoughts on if this is legitimate or not..she said she would be in my area. It sounds like a scare tactic but I am not sure. Has anyone heard about this number before..also I believe its for an old payday loan.

it doesn't matter if a debt is owed unregistered.nobody calls ahead to say you are going to be served,or sued.steve is right a scamming pile of crap.

Seems to be BRS, scamming bottomfeeders. Just ignore them and report the name and the number to the county cops.

This phone appears to be from a debt collector, trying to collect on old payday loans. If its been more than seven years, ignore them, they can't ding your credit. Don't fear legal problems with payday loan places, since most states see them as predadory loan agents, and their losses are a cost of doing business. They take advantage of folks.

Call her bluff and tell her you'll meet her out front in person to
receive those papers. I don't even think they are legally allowed to
leave a message specifically stating that they are delivering legal
documents such as a court summons. This alone should be a red flag
pointing to shady debt collection practices...
