community, I now realize that it is illegal for payday loans in this state. I had received 2 calls from collection agencies, alliance one and landmark. They said I was going to be arrested at my work. I had recently landed this job fresh out of college so I agreed to pay back the full amount they had requested. The phone conversation was recorded. Being that I said I was going to pay back the full amount and admitting to the debt, do I have to pay every cent to these agencies? I take full responsible that I messed up and have full intentions to pay the principal amount to the originalborrower. Am I legally held to the full amount? And please, any suggestions on what my next step to be in this battle, it would be greatly appreciated. Once again, thank you all for help.

Great, thank you for your help. One last question, should I pay the collection agency so they can stop harassing me? Or should I pay back the original lender and tell them to have the collection agency stop?

right you are.in fact while we advocate paying the principle(and you do it on your terms and schedule not the pdls)legally the loans are void, but do try to pay the remaining 200.00.again on your terms meaning a money order and when you can spare the $$$$$.

i wouldn't pay scams like this a dime.they didn't record squat.you cannot be arrested for owing a debt especially a pdl,and if it was online then it might be illegal.the reason they don't record but lie about it is because again the threat of arrest is illegal, and btw both alliance and landmark are notorious lawbreaking bottomfeeders.whatever info you gave them you gave based on a lie and illegal threat.file a police report first.then ignore them.if you gave any bank,or payment info cancel it asap.to summarize illegal collection crap that needs to be reported and ignored not paid.now on a seperate note who were these two lenders?what state are you in?chances are these were illegal loans, but we need to know for sure.

I only paid about 200 to each of them. The loan was $400 from each of them. So since payday loans are illegal in new Jersey, they cannot do anything even though i admitted to the debt and agreed to pay it back?

chances are 100% that these offshore illegals sold the debt.so they are out of the picture.you never pay a voice over the phone period.next time they call demand something in writing, and that you will not speak to them again until you get it.if they refuse then they get squat.that's it the reason they have to break the law with threats is because they can't do squat.to close never pay a voice over the phone especially one that breaks the law.if the lender sold the debt then too bad for the bottomfeeder.they can act like that and not get a dime.do that.

First off, thanks for the reply. The two lenders were gti holdings and hydrafund. I live in new Jersey so most likely these lenders are illegal in my state
