I just today received by UPS an envelope with a letter from Golden Valley Lending, I had a payday loan with them and wrote them and stated the overpayment. They emailed first and said because my account was in such good standing they would close it pdf. and return the extra money i paid well I received my check today for 226.25. Should I cash this?

That is great news that you actually got a refund. I am hoping to be as lucky. Has anyone else here had success in actually being refunded money? In two instances I have overpaid over $1,200, so I'm not holding my breath.

Also from golden valley payday for 300. I'm not sure the check cashing place will take it, though. It is written out by hand and looks like a personal check but the printed name is golden valley lending.

Do you think it would safe to deposit it in a passbook savings account that can't have ACH or checks drawn against it? I will try the check cashing place first, though.

Two different check cashing places refused to cash my refund check. They said it is the same as a personal check. I deposited it in a passbook savings account that cannot have ACH debits or checks drawn. Its more than 300 dollars, so I want the money and hope the check is good.
I didn't have to go back and forth much with Golden Valley, but the others have all refused refunds so far. I filed complaints with the AG for those, maybe that will help.
