Yesterday I closed my bank account and sent emails to the illegal PDL I have received loans from.

I used the exact letter which related to a loan that I had paid more than the principal. I included a payment history to demonstrate that I had been keeping track as well (no idea if this helps at all).

This morning I received an email from VIP Cash aka DMA Financial's "Chief Compliance Officer". His response read:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------thank you for your email. I have frozen all activity on your account. I will need some time to research your account details and verify the amount of refund that you are owed. Please allow me a day or two to review your account, determine how it was approved and process a refund check.

I do apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

I believe the compliance officer is David Cobbett. I dealt with him over 2 years ago. In fact, I did receive a refund from VIP. I am positive you will receive a refund. Keep pushing the issue so that he does not forget to send you one and congratulations.

They are issuing a refund check for the full amount I overpaid. It was in fact David Cobett and he appears very professional and courteous. Of the NINE ...yes NINE letters I have sent to various lenders this is the first to give me a refund. But its also a large one so everything counts.

Thanks for the great ideas on this website for making it happen

Sorry, just found that out today - that it is no longer a policy for the bank to write your account on the back of checks... it was a while back..

You do NOT have to take it to a check cashing place. You can deposit in your account....just dont put your account number on it. Just endore it. The encoding done by the bank does not have your account number in it so there is no way for a third party to trace it back.
