I live in MD, and have gotten into trouble. I am only a little behind in my online PDL. I have not payed any back yet. I am curious what can happen if I dont pay them back. I called debt consolidation and wanted 450 a month which I cant afford. Said these lenders could take me to small claims and even try to garnish my wages. Is wage garnish legal if these pdl lenders are unlicensed and still try to sue how do i proceed. some are out of the country.

payday max ltd
cashnet usa
cash yes
tremont lending
access holdings
snap credit
target cash now

please help

ALL payday loans are illegal in Maryland....you owe princpal only, no interest and no fees. Follow the link in my signature line and follow all of the steps. The PDL consolidator lied to you to try to get your business...who did you call?? They cannot sue you as the loan agreement is in violation of your state law.

The only legal lender is Cash Net USA. You will have to setup an extended payment plan with them after you default meaning that they will setup your balance in 4 or 5 monthly payments. I highly recommend contacting the Maryland Commission of Financial Regulation, 500 North Calvert Street, Room 402, Baltimore, MD 21202, 410-230-6100, finreg@dllr.state.md.us
I am from MD and they along with this site have helped me tremendously. Good luck!

I have money taken from my checking account automatically. I was ok with this but I am dissatisfied with my bank. I informed my debt collectors that I have closed my account and I will need a new way to pay them. They don't like this! I told them that they can send me an invoice bill or an address to mail them a money order. They still not happy. Only on of the creditors agrees to comply. Can they make you get a checking account?

Who are the lenders - lets see if they are even legal lenders. And NO they can not make you pay by ACH only.. no matter legal or not you control how you pay.. What state are you in Pegsue?

Amberdawn I'm in MD too. I took Soaplady's advice as well as Bingonut's. I haven't heard from any of the companies yet, but know what to do when this happens. Most important thing is to close your bank account. Good luck and keep us posted.
