I did post earlier as unregistered but do not see my post so I'm re-posting. I do apologize if this post comes up twice.

I like to start by saying I'm so grateful to have come across this forum. It has helped me a lot an opened my eyes to many scams.

I received a loan in the amount of $1400 from Plain Green Loans in February 2013. My payments are $287.21 on the first of every month. I have made 3 payments so far. I looked at my account yesterday and noticed I still had a balance of $1300. 3 payments and only went down by $100 that bothered me. So I looked further and noticed and extra $150 charge. So I called them and asked what that was about. They told me that I paid my loan before the 1st. Since my payments are due on the 1st that is when I should pay and will be charged for any early payments made.. I hung up on the woman and did some searching online and that's when I came across this site and followed the instructions from the information that I found.

Last night I wrote Plain Green a ACH and wage assignment revocation letter and I stated that I was made away that their loans are illegal in my state (CT). I also stated that I'm willing to pay the principle balance with what I've already paid deducted from the balance and that I would only communicate with them via e-mail and will ignore any attempt to contact me by telephone.

This was a summary, what I sent them was actually longer.
I went to the plain green site today and saw this notice:

Your plaingreenloans account is currently flagged as having an invalid bank account number. Without a valid bank account number, we are unable to electronically process your payments or refinance. Then they gave me a number and told me to contact them to resolve the issue.

I sent them an email back reminding them that I will only have written communication with them and I also resent them the letter i sent to them last night. They have not sent anything to my email as of yet except for a generated email stating they received my message.

I didn't close my bank account as of yet because I have payments coming out for my regular monthly bills but I did do a stop payment with BOA.

Is there anything else I should do or just wait for a response?

Sorry again if this post shows up twice..

You really need to get your bank accouint closed asap. Change the account number with your other creditors....most you can do it easily online.

I received communication from Plain Green Loans today this is what they wrote:

Please be advised that this communication is for the purpose of collecting a debt. Any information obtained may be used to collect the debt. We may report information about your account to credit bureaus. Late payments, missed payments, or other defaults on your account may be reflected in your credit report.

Dear Rachelle

Your correspondence has been directed to me for review and I thank you for the opportunity to assist you at this time.

We understand that all situations are different and would like to offer you the opportunity to pay the remaining principal on your current loan in the amount of $538.37. We are willing to settle your account for this amount, payable in four (4) monthly installment(s) in the amount of $134.59 each, payable beginning June 1, 2013 and monthly thereafter.

To further clarity your questions regarding the legality of this loan, Plain Green is organized under the laws of the Chippewa-Cree Tribe of the Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation of Montana (“Chippewa-Cree”). Plain Green is owned by the Chippewa-Cree, and operates exclusively on land owned by the Chippewa-Cree. As such, Plain Green stands as an “Arm of the Tribe,” in the view of the United States state and federal courts. Therefore, loans made by an arm of a sovereign Indian nation are not subject to state law. This is NOT a payday loan.

This letter is written to help you understand that Plain Green and its loan contracts are governed exclusively by the laws of the Chippewa-Cree.

Pursuant to your request, we have removed your contact numbers from our system and we will make no further ACH debits from your account.

Please reply if you would like to accept this settlement and set up payment arrangements.

Plain Green Loans

I responded by telling them that I will pay in two installments and by money order only.

Thanks again for the help..

If you can and want to pay in 2 installments instead of 4 - then that is best for you - I figured they would be quick to respond to only what you owed for principal balance.. and it looks like the removed the extra $150 fee.. Great news - Good for you!! Keep us posted. Remember to pay them any other way than to give them your bank account info .. pre-paid card or Money order mailed CMRRR so you have proof they received - then after you complete payment demand they send you a PIF..

txpdl, I wrote to plain green on the 16th. On the 17th they flagged my account and on the 20th they sent me the letter stating they would let me pay the principle balance. I sent my letter to them every day. Keep sending your letter they will get back to you.
