Hi - I followed SoapLady's advice and emailed them that they are illegal in the state of CT, that I have paid them all I owe them and that I would not pay anymore. That was 6 months ago and I haven't heard anything from them until today, when an agency called Nationwide based out of CA said that they were delivering documents to me accusing me of bank fraud and other charges. Has anyone else dealt with this? How was it handled? Thanks!

Dear Nationwide.

I hereby demand you cease and desist any and all contact with me and anyone associated with me in regards to account number _________, original creditor American Web Loan. I live in the state of CT and all payday loans are prohibited in this state. As such the loan itself is null and void. You are also guilty of FDCPA violations in threatening fraud charges and serving me for such. Should I quote law to you??
In other words, get lost. I never expect to hear from you again.

Govern yourself accordingly

Send this certified mail, return receipt requested. You could probably fax a copy too.

they all say the say thing after awhile. you will get calls saying theres a case against you for.check fraud and theres a lawsuit against you. its all bull. they try to scare u into sending them money. they know who they should be lending to, and they prey on people who are in a jam and dont know the laws or their rights. but when you throw it nack at them they shut up.
