Drowning in PDL; putting a plan together; need help

Hello. I need help. I am in serious payday loan hell. It all started back in December 2011 when I was just $435 short on rent and it was Xmas... All I want was $1,000. But of course I couldn't get it from one lender. I had to do 4 different ones. Then I was laid off work. I got another job with fairly decent pay and I'm trying to get myself back on track. I stumbled upon this forum back in March but was too chicken to start the process. I was going through a security clearance at work and was afraid if I stopped paying the PDL lenders would somehow get back to my clearance reviewers. Anyway, I'm not ready to deal with this and I don't want to pay these suckers anymore than I need to. So here are my loans...

1. Plain Green: original loan $1,000. I've paid $1,147.5 to date. I should also note that I had two other PG loans. My first was $700. I paid a total of $1,916.55 on that one. My second one was $800 and I paid a total of $1,993.28. Based on what I've read on these forums, I've overpaid my current PG loan by $147.5.

2. Great Plains: original loan $600. To date I've paid $1,002.96. I had one previous loan with them for $600 as well. I paid a total of $1,105.74.

3. 123wages: original loan $300. To date I've paid $654.

4. Mobil Loans: original loan $800. To date I've paid $882.5

5. Western Sky / cash call: original loan was for $5000. To date I've paid $4,374 but apparent still owe $5,100. I've stopped paying them. I'll actually deal with this one last as I'm going to need some energy to get through it. Lol.

I've read that I need to revoked ACH. I have an awesome checking account with USAA I'm afraid to close that account because I'm having trouble getting a new checking account even at my credit union. So can I just say in my letters that I'm revoking ACH privileges? Is that enough? I'm planning to send my emails out tomorrow morning. However, I do not have an email for 123wages. Does anyone have one for them? Also, my loans were taken out in Washington DC. Thank you for all your help.


Payday loans are prohibited in Washington DC. In that case, all you need to pay is the principal amount. Nothing else. You have paid more than the principal amount to Plain Green, Great Plains, 123 wages and Mobile loans. So, you owe a refund from them. As far as Western Sky is concerned, all you need to pay is $626. Nothing else.

you overpaid all but WS/CASHCALL.you really need to do this.got to your bank and see a manager.get a new account not linked to the old one.the info is in the sticky in SOAPLADY'S signature.you must do this as most illegal pdl's won't honor an ACH revocation,and alot of banks won't help even if you give them the revocations before you send them to the lenders.do that at least.give the revocation letters for each lender to your bank manager,but you must secure the account.very important.

Thank you for commenting and the assistance. I will check out that sticky next. My next direct deposit is Monday June 10. So I cannot close it out until then I suppose. The first PD feeL hits the next day-Tuesday. I'm already in the negative by $319. Will the bank need me to be in the clear before they close the account? Also, I've read a couple threads were folks had a really difficult time getting USAA to close their account and revoke ACH.

you need to have the account put on DEPOSITS ONLY status meaning only deposits get through,but you must see if you can get a live check after this one for at least one pay period.why can't you get a checking acct?do you have any accounts closed due to a negative balance before?that is the only reason to be denied.anyway you must do that and inform your employer your acct was compromised and need a live check for at least the one payday until you can get another account.

Well I was able to get a checking account today at SunTrust Bank. However, it's too late to switch my direct deposit for Monday 6/10. But I already did for 6/24 pay date. There is not a USAA branch where I live. In fact there are none within 200 miles. So I have to call. About to do that now.

Just got off the phone with several managers and supervisors at USAA. they all refused to revoke ach authorization. They said all they can do is a stop payment which will cost me $29 per stop payment. I quoted the regulation but they didn't seem to care. also, they said payday lenders often change their "code" and if they do the payment will go through and re-open the account. I've talked to 4 people at USAA and they all say the same thing. Again, I cannot go into a branch because it's over 200 miles from where I live. Anyone dealt with USAA before or have advice?

You need to talk to a branch manager....not a customer service manager for telephone banking. They are required by Federal Law, Reg E of the FDIC to honor your request. They do not have a choice.

got a PIF e-mail from Great Plains! Waiting to hear back from Plain Green and Mobil Loans. Mobil sent me an email asking for my account info for payment. I resent my e-mail to them.

In regards to closing my USAA account and revoking ACH I'm still battling USAA. They refuse to do it. So, once my direct deposit hits on Monday i'm going to wire transfer my money to my new account. Then i'm going to call and tell them my checks and debit card were stolen and account info has been compromised. That will get them to close down the account and not allow ACH through.

bingonut, you are absolutely right! this is way more work on my part. but i guess i have to do what i have to do to protect my money, lol. I did a search on these forums yesterday to find other folks go through the same thing with USAA bank on revoking ACH because they are such assholes about it. And from the looks of it, none that posted here had success with USAA.

Great news on Great Plains - make sure to print and keep in a safe place!! Plain Green should be as easy, also Mobiloans.. actually all of yours with the exception of Western Sky should go quickly -- that will drag out -- you will get lots of mail from CashCall - just don't sign and return anything to them and wait it out .. we will be here to answer questions as you get stuff so just ask..

Telling them your account was compromised and you are shutting it down is the best bet... and you have already opened a new account with branches where you are so even better for you! :)

So Mobil Loans cracked today and sent me an email stating the balance is zero and account is closed ;)!!! Two down. However, I have yet to hear from Plain Green Loans. Great Plain responded within one day. I have noticed that I didn't get my email notice for payment. Is it typical for PGL to take a few days to respond. Tomorrow I'm going to tackle my letter to cash call / Western Sky. I'm not ready for them! Lol

Great news on Mobiloans!! Have you received any thing from PG, even the generic we received your email? Western Sky really no different they just mail a bunch of stuff... and then turn to collections that you will send a C&D to about 5 months later... when is your payment due with them?

I did receive the standard "we've received your request..." But it also says they will respond within one business day. That should have been by COB THursday 6/6. I noticed after I sent the request on 6/5 within 30 minutes my account said this when I logged on:


"Your account is now past due.

Your PlainGreenLoans account is currently flagged as having an invalid bank account number. Without a valid bank account number, we are unable to electronically process your payments or refinance.

Please contact Account Services toll free at (866) 614-7103 to update your bank information and have this flag removed or to make other payment arrangements.

Once we have updated your PlainGreenLoans account information you can return here and process a payment."

Personally I think because I sent the email the week before my loan is due that they are waiting to see if they can take out a payment. Since USAA bank is doing a dick about revoking ACH I decided to do one stop payment on a merchant (PGL). By the time they try to put it through under another name the account would have been closed for fraud purposes. Don't phuck with me! Lol.

In regards to Western Sky/CC I'll be sending them my email today. They already call me 10x a day from several phone numbers. I never answer. The last time I made a payment was April 1st. Technically I still owe them $627 to have paid back the principal as I've only paid $4,373 of the $5,000 in 9 months of on-time monthly payments. I'm willing to pay the $627 back, but I'll do so in late August. Lol. That loan hurt more than it helped and I want to spend my June and July paychecks getting myself on track again. CC has already started sending me modifications via email. I don't respond, I just archive the message.

I have really learned my lesson here. I do not want to repeat this mistake EVER again. As such, i'm in the process of enrolling in a financial counseling. I'll be 33 in July and recently got a more well paying job. I need to be more responsible.

I wouldn't worry about PG - they got your email, they are just taking your time.. They have taken out your account info since you revoked your ACH authorization - you should not have any problems from them - if you want you could send one more time reminding them that you are demanding your PIF on the account..

Your right on track with WS/CC - they will send more in the mail trust me - in your letter to them make sure you say all communication will be in writing and that all you are willing to repay is the principal only minus all already paid - tell them when you will pay - but until they agree - you will send them nothing - which from what I have seen is never going to happen.. ... never mention CC you had no direct dealing with them, they were merely servicing the loan - LOL!

Make sure your financial counseling is through a non-profit - you should not pay for that service..

Got a visual of the happy dance! :) With WS/CC - really just takes time - they will send you lots of mail - file away, don't return anything signed.. and then they will turn over to Delbert Services more than likely and you will C&D - mine went on from Oct to March... if you get anything you are unsure of - just ask...
