I'd keep resending the email. Did you tell them to only contact you via email? I did when I dealt with them but they never responded to me just kept calling. I finally answered and was able to work out a plan with them. They were relentless though on the calling. Run my battery down they called so much!! I had paid principal and initially refused to pay anything else but finally gave in and paid the fee which was 90.00. They tried to get me to pay 180.00 but I told them to take the 90.00 or leave it, that was all I was doing. They took it and went away.

so you paid them even though you owed nothing.you see that is why they use the tactics they use.to wear people down.i would hold out till hell froze over before paying these and any other illegal more thn they are entitled to.

yes, I sent them the letter as recommended on this site. I was explicit in the only communication being through US Mail or my email; as well as not contacting any of my references or employer.

Ironically, not a minute after resending the email to them which reiterates contact through email or us mail only, I got a PHONE CALL on my cell -which I did not answer. It was United's "compliance" department offering me a settlement which she did not specify in the voice mail. She said she'd send it via email.

They can take any settlement and shove it. I'm paying principle only.

I originally borrowed 300.00 and the fee was 90.00. I could have held out I know, but I got sick of the phone calls and finally just paid the 90.00. It was worth it to get them to stop. I had other pdl's that I only paid principal but yeah they wore me down but it was my choice to just pay it and make them go away. I just wanted some peace and quiet and 90.00 was a small price to me. Just saying.

@ momtoautistic - I would remind them again mail or email only if they continue to call - and the settlement may have been for the principal balance only.. most of the illegals once you know they are send you a settlement offer for what you still owe on principal only broken in to several payments. But, remember it is in your court when you pay and how much - I recommend paying only via money order - but until you get them to agree to principal only in writing send them nothing..

What have you already paid to date on the $500 originally borrowed? Remind them that you never came to their tribe in Oklahoma and that they must be licensed to lend in your state of MT. and that you will only repay principal borrowed minus any thing already paid to date - if already over paid then demand a PIF and if you still owe some lay out what your plan is - remind them also that you will be paying via money order only and if they don't agree to your terms then they will get nothing and if they turn over to collections you will merely C&D them due to attempting to collect on a null and void loan.

This is one of the few that nothing had been paid yet at all. I'm still not paying a dime over the 500, though. Thanks, nice to know I'm not alone. :)

Just remind them that you are willing to pay the $500 - lay out the terms you can live with - and tell them you will be mailing only via money order - not to contact you or your references or your employer by phone - US mail or email only, period.. and the rest from above - when the agree then you pay! If they don't well then - they get Nothing!!

Got this response today in regards to my sending another email yesterday telling them what was suggested here.

Per the fact that we are tribally owned, we are not required to have a license. As stated below we may settle this account for $650.00 split into payments, starting on July 5th as a courtesy.
