I should also mention that
I should also mention that they told me that they are trying to determine whether to persue filing suit, but offered me the chance to prevent that by paying the debt. Personally this sounds like a scam, but I thought I would ask the knowledgible people here.
I'm in Nebraska, and after I
I'm in Nebraska, and after I got off the phone with them this AM, I received an email from them. The company's name South Atlantic Money Management, and they are requiring that I pay them the balance in 2 days.
I have checked with my Secretary of State, and this company is not licensed to collect in Nebraska, so I am feeling very confident that this is truly a scam.
More Information
This company is definately a scam. They have called my work the past 2 days even after being told not to call me here.
I have lodged complaints with FTC and with my states AG. And keeping a detailed log about these bottom feeders. Looking for a contigency lawyer so if these idiots keep it up, I can sue them.
NOT A SCAM
This company is not a scam I owed the loan they called me about and they gave me a good deal and helped me get it taken care of once it was payed i received the letters and e mail this is a legit company they told me where they were based out of and all the info i asked for to verify the debt...WHAT ARE YOU GUYS TALKING ABOUT??
Truly a Shill
Every step your company has taken has been illegal. I've talked to my Lawyer about your company and he said that if he could find you, we could sue. So if the company wants to proceed with this farce, they should know that I have retained all my evidence for every illegal action they have taken.
Trust me, the cost to SAM will be more than the alleged debt owed.
scam company
Huge Scam company who violates collection laws. Don't fall into their trap. Make them send anything they are saying in writing. By law you have to receive it within 5 days. If you don't, its not worth the stress. Also litigation and lawsuits won't happen overnight. The reason you can't find information is because these are random minimum wage workers in cubicles who change their company name every week due to complaints. Don't be sucked in or you will be out a lot of money. Any doubts, talk to a lawyer!
