@sanderspatricia29 - You mean old number right?

Yes, the SSN will link your old number with the new one. So you won't lose your credit history. However, you should also inform your creditors that your SSN has been changed. Then it will be easier for credit bureaus to update your credit report.

The answer is no.

Your old credit history is not going to erase with a new SSN (Social Security Number). Your old credit history is going to be linked with your new credit history. But one point must be remembered the task is not so easy.

Please inform the financial institutions about this so as to avoid becoming a victim of identity theft. A fraudulent person can use your number to open a new account in your name. Inform your credit card companies as well.
However, you can be rest assured that you won't lose the hard work you've done for years. Your credit history will be intact though you might have to go through some hassle. Whenever applying for a new credit card, make sure you mention the new SSN and get it corrected in the records.
