A debt collection agency has filed a lawsuit against me in February 2020. What will happen to that lawsuit now? I'm not going out of the house due to the viral infection. So, will they issue a warrant against me for not appearing in the court?

When is your court hearing date? And, what state are you in? Actually, even the courts are maintaining social distancing. Some courts are completely closed. Like, the US Supreme Court has canceled all verbal arguments for 2 weeks. Some courts are conducting them through video conference. In Northern district of California, all jury trials are suspended until May 2020. So, can you please tell me where a civil suit has been filed against you?

The lawsuit won't be suspended. But the trials may be postponed.

Well, most of the courts in the US are closed now due to the pandemic. So, don't worry. You will summoned on a later date. By the way, as you said that a debt collection agency has filed a lawsuit against you, can you please tell me the debt amount? If you need debt help, you can certainly call 800-DEBT-913.

‘No’, my dear friend. As most of the courts in the US are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, so there is no chance that a warrant will be issued against you.
If you seek further information, you may call this number. 800-DEBT-913.

Thanks!
