I have a credit card with an outstanding balance of $2500. The credit limit is $3000. I want to take out a credit card with zero percent interest rate. I want to transfer the balance to that card. I have applied for a balance transfer credit card. However, I got approved for only $500 credit limit. Why is it so? My boyfriend has applied for a balance transfer card too. But, she was approved for card with $1500 credit limit. Why is it so? Why should I do to improve my credit limit?

Have you checked your credit report? What is your credit score? If your credit report has too many negative items or your score is very low, then the credit card companies will not give a card with a huge credit limit.

Creditors are just not giving out the credit lines they used to. This is just the way it is. They might consider that your utilization is too high.
