Harassment
I took out a pdl for 300 and couldn't pay it back. Now the Audobon Financial Bureau is calling all of the time accusing me of bank and wire fraud. I closed my account because I was leery of them. I know this is civil not criminal and I'm trying not to panic when they make these threats. Please advise. I'm in CA - what could they do? Thanks!
IGNORE theiir threats and
IGNORE theiir threats and report them to your state ag;s office. And send then a cease and desist telling them to never contact you ever again!!!!!!!!

Have had numerous calls from these people and even after asking for documentation, that was not provided, they continue to call me and threaten me with all kinds of bs. Got a call today stating they had talked to me on friday at my work place and I had missed an appointment with their in house lawyer lol. When I called him back for giggles and shits he told me that he talked to me on friday at a job sit that i haven't worked at in two years. Also stated they verified my information which they would not have. And when I told him I haven't worked there in two years he still tried to continue with this farce. I proceeded to tell him that he didn't have much credibility with me after lying to me like he did and, lo and behold, he still kept after me about the debt. So, guess what? I told him that he could shove his allegation and I am blocking his number and reporting this company. Please please please do not fall for this scam and their line of bs.

This company has now contacted me for the 3rd time using now a different name. I will file yet another complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. ftc.gov
some lenders sell debts to
some lenders sell debts to multiple collection agencies and then the recovery of the debt is pretty much first come first serve. These lenders don't notify the agencies that the debt has been resolved so your acct can possibly still be sitting in multiple agencies after you have paid. The best thing for you to do when an agency calls you is to ask for a fax number and fax over your receipt of payment so they can close the acct.

These people are relentless. Attorney told me if they were legit they could be sued. So far he has 50 suits and no results
Audubon
Is it legal for them to call your place of work? They also call all hours on my cell and home phones, don't know how they got any of these numbers. They have threatened jail and other things. This is about to cost me my job. Is it really ok for them to do these things?
Audoban Financial Bureau (also AFB Funding)
These people are relentless, call both my home number and cell daily. When I have answered, the give me the threats of court action and sending information to my county to be served; however, when I ask for them to fax or email me a copy of this "debt" in question, I get nothing but more threats of legal action.
When questioning them about the different company name, they say that it's legit and sometimes goes by that other name. Various phone numbers have contacted me, they are 855-720-0142, 855-720-0152 and 855-735-4668, one of of these numbers a person's name shows up on caller id no company.
Just beware and be proactive, file complaints with the BBB and FTD (unfornately, the FTC site isn't allowing complaints to be filed until the government shutdown ends).
Don't fall victim to these snakes!
Collection Agency
Unless you live in a state where they can garnish - just ignore them. It's obvious that the gene pool for their collectors is from the very shallow toxic end of the DNA reservoir.

Collection agencies
Bottom feeders.
They also change their phone numbers, and also Spoof numbers on your caller ID. Real Low Life. Here's the lay of the land as they say, I work in the court system so I will go thru this for you .
First they are calling because they say they can not find you. This is Crap as the sheriff, will NEVER, EVER call you to tell you they are coming. They live to work on the element of surprise. Plus if your township, county etc, wants you, they already know where you are, so sit tight.
Second, and most important, NEVER CALL these low life bottom feeders back. Because truth be known they don't care who they talk to as long as they can get money from someone. It doesn't even have to be the right person. If you call them back then they know that they have a real tangible working phone number that they can call to harass you all the time of day and night. Just ignore the call, or better yet, tag them as a spam call in your phone, and you'll never even see them ring it.
Third, these people function and live on the *Fear factor* they will say anything, tell you anything to get you to give them the money thru your checking account, debit card or credit card. Many people get scammed this way. I've heard : coming to your workplace to arrest you, serving you in the morning if you don't call by a certain time, attaching your salary, etc, etc, this is all nothing but crap.
Fourth, in most states payday loans are ILLEGAL as they charge obnoxious interest, and states are trying desperately to control that. Since I'm not sure of what state anyone is in, I cannot site them all here, but if you go to your states attorney general page, you should be able to look up the laws.
Fifth, I know it sounds nice to send them a letter or report them, but this is a futile. They have got this to a science. With all that is going on in court system they know they have time on their side. Not enough of these low life bottom feeders get caught and prosecuted, if they did...they wouldn't still be in business, but they are, thousands of them.
Lastly, anyone who posts that you are scum or a deadbeat PAY YOUR BILLS , OR OMG they came to my place of work and arrested me, are full of crap and are just trying to SCARE you, SEE MY THIRD NOTE Above, Fear factor.
Best thing to do in this case, especially with these people is TO IGNORE. Eventually when no one engages with them they will go away to torment someone else.
Hope this helps you all out.
One who knows.
Advice needed for Idaho Resident
I've been hit up on my cell several times this week concerning a payday loan that I defaulted on last year. I really do want to make things right and pay what I owe, but not a penny more, and not to someone who is fake or fraudulent. The calls are from a Mr Carter saying that he'll send papers to my county to have papers served to me, containing 2 counts of fraud. Should I be concerned? Can I go to jail for this!?
Debts are civil, not criminal
Debts are civil, not criminal. No, you cannot go to jail. You are only morally responsible for paying the original amount borrowed. Who is your lender, amount borrowed, and amount paid back ?
I've been getting these calls
I've been getting these calls as well. They threaten with all kinds of things, serving me papers, filing check fraud charges against me, garnishing my wages, suing me for $3500 on a $700 loan, etc. I'm in the beginning stages of filing bankruptcy but they informed me that I cannot include these types of debts on a Ch. 7 or Ch. 13. I made payment arrangements with them, paid $60 then arranged to pay $90 every payday. Once I hung up, I called a Bankruptcy lawyer and he informed me that they are lying and I can absolutely include these on my bankruptcy. So I had to call my bank and order a new debit card so that they couldnt not take any more money from me. I've been reading all these comments and it bring some ease to me but I'm on California and the PDL's aren't illegal here, but I cannot find out if they're actually able to garnish wages. I've been ignoring their calls for months but they continue to call my cell and work line on a daily basis.
geez
for one thing i deleted the number as that is not allowed.plus the FDCPA is a set of laws, and guidelines not an actual person,or group.being as i am in il will look into that name as my title indicates i must do so.last thing i suspect a plant as nobody posts with such horrible spelling, usage, etc;bottomline your post makes my head hurt big time.
well
i deleted the post because jeffery hyslip is a piece of dirt that has been sued alot more oftem than he sues.in fact the only reason he still has his license is because nobody filed a complaint with the IL BAR ASSOCIATION yet as all the suites were settled.a major BUYER BEWARE with this joker.
Don't worry
Can I say something? Those people came after me over a year ago. I tried to make payment arrangements and they would not work with me. They wanted what they wanted and when they wanted. Stupid move as they would have gotten what they wanted if they weren't such pricks. I refused to be played by them and did not pay a dime. They threatened to take me to court and this and that and guess what? Nothing ever happened. Stay cool.
