I was served today by Midland Credit Management today for unpaid debt.
Long story, but I always paid on time. A disaster at my work and then covid saw me lose 40% of my pay for 16 months.
I could not juggle all my debt, (never took any unemployment) and tried to arrange payments to resume once the business came back. No help from Amazon.
I am slowly getting my finances back. I know this needs to be paid, but I cannot pay it all off at the moment.
I can make payments, but not much yet.
I have 14 days to respond to the court.
What is my best action?

Thank you
William

First things first, you have to reply to the summons. There is no doubt about it. But before you do that, try to settle your debt out of court. That would be best course of action. What state are you in by the way? In several states, the government has instructed creditors to stop collection attempts during the pandemic.
