Can you tell me how to retrieve money from an illegal payday lenders?

I have paid an additional $4000 to an illegal payday loan lender in the last 6 months. The mistake was mine. I fell in their trap. Now, I have stopped making payments inspite of their repeated threats. But, how can I retrieve the money? Please help
You can claim the money back
You can claim the money back but I guess the lender won't do so. So, be careful in the future. You're only supposed to pay the principal amount in case of a pdl.
