Can I get judgments for loans over 5 years old?

I have 2 outstanding loans both over 5 years old. Neither has been placed on my credit report however I'm being threatened with judgments. The original loans were for $700 however they are stating I owe over $7000. Please assist. I can't possibly afford to pay that
