Anybody dealt with this company? I am receiving calls constantly at my work on my voice mail from a Mr. Austin very nasty. I sent them a certified letter on Saturday asking them to verify the debt. What happens if they don't validate the debt? Any advice?

There are good and bad reviews about ART, I have dealt with them and my personal experience was okay, they even helped out when the OC sent the debt to another CA about 1 year after it was paid off. It may depend on who you talk to, so if you can, find a friendly personality when you call and see how it goes. Stand firm, if you can afford to pay something, state what that is and then follow through, the key is to committ to an amount that you can handle. Also docment each and every call, especially those unpleaseant ones in writing.

Raffi,

There is a post by Virginia-Legal-Defense in this forum that states there is no specific time period for the collectors to validate the debt, however, they cannot bring any legal action against you unless they validate the debt.

Have you sent the letter via CMRRR? Keep the copy and the return receipt with you. if you haven't added any cease comm. paragraph in that letter, considering sending another letter.
