my credit report does not tell me if i have a debt to your company how can i find out?

Msd,

This is debt consolidation Care. The site provides free debt and credit counseling to those who register here.

It seems some other company is appearing in your credit report. You have to contact that company and forward your request first. Hopefully they will be able to solve your problem. If you do not get satisfactory response from the company, ask credit bureaus to remove the entry.

You can dispute the entry directly with credit bureaus too. Is this account appearing all the three credit reports? You cannot ignore the chance of ID Theft as well.

And if all else fails, you could dispute it with the credit bureaus and if they come back and say its been verified and its yours, you could ask them for the address of who they verified with. It will take a little long this way, but as I said, if all else fails. shirley

Good idea Shirley. Yes the process is long, but it will work if all the other avenues are closed.

What would you suggest to do, if one suddenly finds some unknown entries in the credit report? What could be the best option - contacting the creditor who reported it or disputing with credit bureaus straight?

IMO, we have to check all the three reports in such cases. If the same thing is there in the reports from all the three credit bureaus, then we should contact the creditor ASAP, to know how the transaction occurred. It might be a case of ID theft.

If it is there in one credit report only, I would consider it as a mistake by bureau and will dispute first. Any other suggestions?
