You can search for them with BBB website and check if it is holding a good record or not.

BTW, you should always deal with a good company because your credit matters here. If you hand your credit over to an inefficient agency, you might have to pay a high toll. I know how difficult it is to pick a reliable company from the bunch.

I've been dealing with them for about 3-4 years. I was told that I would be free of my debt by year 4. Unfortunately, I am already into year 5 and I still have approximately $6k left on the cards. I've decided to go elsewhere as this hasn't gone the way I would have liked it to.

Have you asked for documentation from them? Where did all your money go? You have all the right to ask these questions. Have you checked the payment plan that they offered you? If you watch the payment plan carefully, you can get an idea on how much time it should take to repay your debts completely.

Also you should interact with your counselor regularly, so that you have an idea about the progress.

They send my quarterly statements which depict my payments and how they are distributed to each of my creditors. I haven't sat down and done the math to figure out how long it would take to pay off based on my monthly payment, but I am gauging their progress based on the promises they made 4 years ago. Its a little frustrating cause I was hoping to rid myself of these debts by now.

Thanks for the help. I considered obtaining a loan to kill off the credit card debt. After reading some topics on this forum, I realized it wasn't the right route.

Consolidation loan often takes you in deeper debt. Sometimes the rate of interest on consolidation loan is low, but since these are long term loans, you have to pay more money as interest.

8 matches were found when I searched BBB database for this particular company. Try searching bbb.org and view the customer experience section there. I have not dealt with them personally. Hope someone else will be able to help you.
