You guys are going to love this. I received an e-mail at the end of February stating my loan was considered paid in full so I removed them from T &C. I get an e-mail today stating I had two accounts with them. HUH? Now how is this possible when they don't allow such a thing. Or they didn't in the past. So, I called them after sending an e-mail. I guess you could say curiousity killed the cat. So, I get this guy on the phone and he was pleasant enough to talk to. He said that I do have two accounts, one was paid in December, and one is still showing a balance. I said I received an e-mail stating my loan was considered paid in full a couple of months ago. He said I had another account even though their company doesn't allow this. So I brought up not being licensed in my state and his answer was we don't do payday loans in Ohio anymore. I said I already filed a complaint against your company with my AG's office. Well, somehow that's not noted on my account nor is any of my correspondence. Except that they removed my work phone number of Jan 3 and letters from T & C. He said they never received any cease and desist orders. I said I sent them via certified mail and I have the signature cards to prove it. I also faxed it with a copy of the fax print report showing the fax went through okay. I told him I would file suit against his company and follow up with my complaint with my State's AG office. Somehow I had two separate banks and two separate e-mails. Huh? I only had one account and one bank account that I used with them. It seems they just changed the name a little. Sounds like a scam to me. I told him I would not pay them anything else because they considered my loan paid in full. I have the e-mail proving it so I will follow up with my AG's complaint.

I also spoke to a person from quikpayday. Unfortunately, this lady was not quite so pleasant. Recently I sent them $50 and a certified letter stating my payment intentions and telling them not to call. The woman told me I was a liar and I sent no payment because they don't accept partial payments, it's all or nothing. She then told me she was tired of people like me and told me if I did not give her immediate access to my bank account info I would be slapped with a judicial suit. I told her she could bring it on. Then all of a sudden POOF! My payment appeared on her computer. So then she gets all sweet and says well now you only owe $405, why not just have a one-time debit and be done with it? I told her that I would continue to make the payment arrangements I specified in my letter. She said that's unacceptable. I said that's all I can afford to pay..She said that's not her problem(that's probably the only true statement she made throughout the entire phone call.) She again asked me for my bank account info. I repeated..still being nice..That I was making payments. So she says "well, when do you think you'll be able to make your next payment?" I said this Thursday I will mail the next $50. "well, we don't accept money orders." You accepted my last one. "Give me your account info and we'll set up direct debit payments of $50 bi-weekly" Yeah, you bet.
So, I guess Ill just keep mailing those payments they don't accept. Careful with these guys.

I'm not scared of them at all. I'm hearing different stories now and it really makes me wonder. There is a reason they no longer provide payday loans. They could be under investigation with other states as well. I know sometimes I just want to tell them to come and get me. We have the law to protect us but we must also follow it. I told the guy today that I would seek legal counsel if necessary and I will also follow up on my complaints with the AG's office. He said that was my right and it was their right to respond to it. I try to keep it matter of fact but she had no right to call you a liar. I would suggest checking your state's payday lender laws and filing a complaint with the AG's office. They do accept payments because a lot of people are working with them. They worked with my debt consolidation company. I wouldn't give out your bank info either. Who knows what they will try to debit? I don't understand why when we try to do the right thing and pay our debt that we get called names. She had no right to say those things. IF you need more info, I can help you file the complaints. Also Holland is just beautiful! I've been there a few times. :)

Mishele,
You have been an enormous help in the last month. Unfortunately I don't have a whole lot of payday loan wisdom ( I think I just coined a TERRIFIC phrase)but I am learning quickly from this site. I am hoping that I'm not making too many mistakes in my dealings with them, I'm trying to keep the phone calls to a minimum and have most of my correspondence written. I could use any advice you can give me about filing complaints..And where do I begin to check out laws and stuff? Point me in the right direction, I appreciate it!
I'm kinda partial to Holland myself!

I just contacted T&C and will be sending my initial payment in on this Wednesday. My question is, am I going to have to close my checking account to stop the payday loan people from trying to debit my account.

I've got a good one for you, I went through the same hassle took care of the loan based on what I said I owed them. I received an email stating that because I was such a good "customer" they wanted to raise my limit by 50.00 and all I had to do was respond to the email but they needed new banking info... They "try" to be slick, watch out for all these pay day loan sharks. PS: I told them if I needed a short term loan I knew a loan shark down the road. Good luck to all of you, been there. Beth

So I called quikpayday today and told them I would not have 600 dollars on the 18th. First the lady told me that all she could do was give me 3 more days to pay. I told her I wouldn't have it. She then said all she could do would be to take 2 payments of 300 dollars. After about 10 minutes of me telling her that I could not make the payment, she said that she would break the payment up into smaller ones. I am just going to let T&C take care of it because I am just learning that I actually have rights in all this! Imagine that!

Beth,

It's basically what payday loans are, loan sharking. I don't know why Quik is trying to do this now. It amazes me how I mysteriously have two accounts now. I've been dealing with them for three months through my debt consolidation company and nothing was ever mentioned before yesterday. I think something is screwed up in their computer system. I have the e-mail stating my account was paid in full and that was the end of it. That is what I'm going to send to my AG's office later this week.
