Father-in-law on credit report??
Date: Wed, 03/15/2006 - 14:05
I recently checked my credit report and saw that my husband and I have a real-estate debt through Bank of America... the problem is.. we do not own any property. That is the only odd thing on the credit report. We think it might be his father (they have the same name) but can't get a hold of him to find out..
Anyone have this happen to them? Should I be worried about it? The account is in good standing and is apparently raising our credit score because of the fact that it is a real estate account. :?

Rose, this might be one of the common errors of the credit bureaus when they mix up similar names. All you have to do is to dispute with them on this matter and they will update your file with the change. The account perhaps belongs to his father.
