Hey everybody?? hows everyone doing today? fine I hope. I got news today from Experian and Equifax. Equifax sent my husband a letter stating that they have put his report on 'fraud alert' and was contacting the other two bureaus about it as well. Experian also wrote to say they have done so too. Both said we are entitled to a free report now-just request within 90 days.

I told you guys that my husbands brother lived across the street from us for about 12 years and their sister and also my husbands oldest son (which has the same name as my husband but he's suppose to be tacking a jr on the end of it and he refuses) On my husbands equifax report, in 1998 someone from the address across the street, tried to get credit using my husbands SSN under an alias name. so after that, Equifax has my husband listed as his REAL name and then an AKA name. They have the address we live at now listed, but also the address across the street from this AKA name. I have been disputing, telling equifax (its only on their report) that the AKA name is NOT my husband and we HAVE NEVER lived at the address across the street. First they took the aka name off but kept that address on there, so I had to dispute some more. I haven't heard back about them taking the address off---but today I get these two letters. Guess they have something to do with this alas name and address. This was in 1998---other than trying to get it off of his report, we haven't had any trouble---unless something new has recently happened. I am going to request those free credit reports to make sure everything is still as it should be. shirley

Yes, you should pull the latest copy of your credit report and see what is in there. You might find that the address has been updated now. If it happens, it's the end of all those problems. Best of luck and keep us informed. These are some of the unusual problems of the credit bureaus and you will have to persist on this.

I shall see. They did fix the name but said they verified the address and it was going to stay--duh--the son lives over there under the same name and won't use the junior on the end of it. maybe they finally figured out what I've been trying to tell them all along, that SOMEONE used my husbands SSN to try to get credit. Whats sad is its someone related to him. :( I will get the reports to double check everything. They gave us a whole list of things we have to send in now in order to get a report since the fraud alert has been put on.

I know, lots of things are needed to be done especially after a fraud alert is activated. I will give a try by calling at the toll free number of the CRA and try to get some information besides doing everything in writing. Of course, they will ask some serious personal information from you but you will try to get the information what you want. This try won't cost you anything. In fact, a lot of hard work can be saved!
