Thank God, I found this website (google search) I have been trying to find a phone number for Bahamas Marketing Group for months. I never received anything in writing from them. My loan should have been paid off months ago, but they have been taking the fee of $75.00 without me being able to pay off the loan completely. I just tried to call, but the office is closed but I'll call first thing tomorrow. Thanks for info.

I have a loan with them and I'm having financial problems at this time. I received a phone call threating to have me arrested and taking to court and also them taking my place of employment to court. Why is it that I cannot get a address to send a payment to them. They would only give me a money gram address to send payment that way and that cost extra money to send. What can I do? Thanks for your help

These are threats for collecting money from you. Being default on a loan is not a criminal offense that they will come to arrest you. Who called you, the original lender or a collection agency?

MaryRDA, by law, the collection agency contacting you for one of your past debt is legally bound to present you the details of the account in writing. These details must include the complete information about your creditors and calculation of interest rates and other fees. Unless these details are given, you can always refuse to pay them anything. Send a debt validation letter to make your move legal. Once the company has received your request, they must give you the necessary details otherwise should stop calling you. Violation of the fdcpa law will result in legal actions and you can take the help of your attorney.

Roxette

I have been trying to find bahamas Marketing website for the longest time but have had no luck. I finally came across an email I had sent to someone at their office asking for their contact info to see when my payment was due. Now that I ran into a little financial trouble and can not pay the $75.00 extension fee, they don't want to answer my emails! So, they will be getting a fax from me this evening! Anyhow, here is their phone & fax # if anyone else needs it:

PHONE 866-224-8776
FAX 866-224-8777

EMAIL ADDRESS OF THE PERSON I USUALLY DEAL WITH aherrmann(at)bahamasmktg.com

I was just called to from a collections agent demanding money and threatening to have me arrested on behalf of Bahamas Marketing Group. He refused to send me anything in writing and he became quite defensive when I stated to him that he needed to send me something in writing and when i refused to send payment by Western Union!

Stick to your plans. You are doing the right thing. collection agencies must validate the debt in writing. They need to mention the name of the company for which they are collecting. Along with it, you must receive the breakdown of the interest rates and fees along with the principal amount. It will only get clear from that point that the company is authorized for this collection and they are not trying to scam you. Keep your basis strong while dealing with the CAs. It will be good to back up yourself with the fdcpa laws. If possible, get in touch with the original company and work out arrangements with them. They will be pretty easier to deal with.

I took out a loan with bmg. I have paid the collection agency $300.00. United federal bank. They keep calling my job. They have called 3 times today. Threatening me. I just called bahamas marketing group to let them know that the agency is giving me a hard time and that they won't accept my last payment arrangement. I talked with lindsey at 866-224-8776. She told me to call ana at 904-685-5008 and tell her that i spoke with her and that she would take care of me. Ana wasn't available, but all i had to say was that i talked to lindsey and that was it. They took my payment arrangement. So, hopefully after i pay this last payment, they won't be calling me back. They said after my last payment they will be closing my file. I hope so!

Can they really have me arrested. I didnt think so. they say it is collateral check fraud. please give me some input

Beings it is an online pdl, they will not have you arrested, garnish your pay or charge you with check fraud. I see more and more online pdls issuing threats like this to get people to send them more than what is actually owed. I feel the reason they don't want to give an address or written confirmation is they are doing illegal things, and don't want the proper authorities involved. I wouldn't recommend paying by Western Union to any pdl company. I have heard of online pdls stating that they never received the funds and turn the account over to collections for non payment, when in fact you have the MTCN# showing it was sent. Alot of these companies are snakes in the grass. You are entitled to a printout of your account with them.

I tried to call the 866-224-8776 and kept getting a recording saying they were closed. Just press 1 and then # you will get a live voice. Found out you have to call 3 business days to make your payoff. Unless you call in, they will continue to take 75.00 a pay period. What a crock. You cant find phone numbers.

I took out a $200.00 loan from BMG in November 2006, and the fees were $30.00 per hundred. All of that was fine. In the meantime I had some one RIP off my checking account ON-LINE for $387.50 causing numerious checks to bounce. On 12/01/06 BMG took the original $60.00 from my account. On 12/05/06 I closed my account. On 12/15/06 BMG tried to debit my account again for $60.00 finding the account closed the SOLD my account to a Collection Agent who has called me and Demanded a $600.00 payment. this collection agent sounds like an off shore bank. They do not have a physical address, they say they are in Florida, but I do not believe them. What recourse do I have. I am willing to pay BMG, but they have sold my account because they do not collect their loans. HELP!

I have been recieving calls for the past week from someone from Bahamas Marketing Group. They are saying that I have an internet loan with them. I am willing to pay them but they wont give me any documentation in writing. I am from Wisconsin and they told me that they were taking me to court in Florida and I was going to be brought up on check fraud charges. They also told me that they were going to put my name and photo in the local paper telling creditors not to lend to me. How do I stop this?

Oh that is a new one! Just relax - these are scare tactics that many sleezy collection agencies us. There are no debtors prisons. They will not put your picture in the paper. What state do you live in? Who did you take the loan out with/do you have a pdl? Learn what the laws are in your state. Nine out of ten times these companies are not licensed in the US. Contact you state Attorney General and register a complaint against this company and with the BBB and the FTC.

These people are idiots. They are not going to charge you with any type of crime, let alone fraud. That is an illegal collection tactic, and they definately are NOT going to put your picture in the paper. Get those complaints in. I had two of their workers call me from their damn cell phone once. I filed my complaints, they haven't bothered me since. They are quite comical when you relax and think about what they are threatening you with.

I just received the same type of call ... literally just hung up with someone who was practically screaming at me. I had already retained an attorney because I was unable to get into contact with BMG and they took $2,160 out of my account for a $300 loan. My attorney advised me to stop payment on the renewal and when they contacted me, to ask them to contact my attorney. So when they sent the threatening email, I asked to them to give me some contact information so that my attorney could contact them. They never responded. Now, two months later I am getting these harassing calls at work from United Processing Legal Headquarters. They told me that they would be downloading my file into my state's legal system at 3:00 today and that I can expect to be arrested and to go to jail (all the while telling me that I should know that there are 6 or 7 attorneys listening on the line) if I didn't send them $685. WAIT a minute ... the original loan was $300. I paid $2,160 in fees, all the while trying to pay off the loan, now they want another $685. I told them that I had been a victim of identity theft, so I did not give any information over the phone, they claimed that they did not have to give me anything in writing and that if I wanted anything in writing, that I should just go ahead and let myself get arrested. When I asked if they were aware of the fair debt collections act, they hung up on me. I'm going to go ahead and file a complaint right now.
UGH

Don't fall for their threats..they are just that...no one can illegally threaten you...Bahamas Marketing is known for their illegal threats and in most states they are illegal to lend...don't stress and don't take their calls...you will find many threats about this company - just look in the right hand corner and do some searches on them...Good luck~

These people are the scum of the earth and I think everything they say is a lie. I am the mother of a person who got a payday loan and don't even know how they got my phone number, since I am not listed anywhere. They called ME first, saying they were calling from a "Crime Investigation" company and asked if I knew my child's name, as it had been given to them as a "reference". I said that was my son. Well, THAT really set them off. They started asking me all kinds of personal questions about him, name, address, SS#, current employer, etc. I balked. I told them I didn't think it was legal for them to be asking me all these personal questions and asked for their identity, address, WHERE they were calling me from (their geographical LOCATION), to which I got a bunch of "oh, we are not legally bound to tell you that information" and more answers very similar to that, no matter how many times I asked. I hung up the phone. Immediately, my phone rang again and an angry woman with the same thick non-american accent in her voice, informed me she was "OFFICER Stacy Williams" and that my son and I should not try to leave the state of Massachusetts for the next three hours, because she was sending the police to MY home to arrest both my son (who doesn't live with me) and MYSELF, who has nothing to do with this matter at all. They shouldn't even have been talking to me about it, legally. The people who I talked to (and I am sure these names are fake) were Jeff Anderson 360.200.1072 and 305.749.0405. Now the 360# is from California, I believe, and the 305 # is from Florida. Then he called me back several times from a Minnesota #320.085.6985. The more they talked, the more angry I became because I realized that what they were doing was completely illegal and in some cases Federal offenses. I am going to report them and their phone #'s and names to the Atty General's Consumer affairs office tomorrow and I suggest they the rest of you do the same. These people think they are the Mob or something and if I could have reached through the phone and choked them, I would have.

As I read through the blogs this all sounds like what we just experienced.?? Someone from BMG just called my boyfriend stating his name was Jack Justice and he was calling to collect from the US Criminal Investigation Dept.?? If he didn't pay right away he would have him fired from his job and thrown in jail for 30 years.??(My boyfriend is self employed)???? I have done collections for many years and this breaks every know fair credit collection law.?? Please don't be intimadated by these collection methods.?? I called them back representing my boyfriend requesting a fax # and they refused to give me a number.?? They also discussed his information with me which is against the law all on its own.?? If you threaten to report the to your states Attorney General they will hang up and not call you back.?? They are calling us from 646-289-8292.?? Good Luck

Hello I too got the same and per my state laws I have paid them off what I owe which is the amount I have taken from them. I don't have to pay interest. They called and threatened to have me arrested as well, by doing which they broke the law. I have a plan if anyone who has received this phone call is interested in joining please leave a message here. The plan is as follows: We can hire an attorney and sue the Credit Control (this is the collection agency that represents Bahama Marketing Group) and the Bahama Marketing Group collectively as a class action law suit. Let me know what you think.

My dad called me today saying that he received a recorded message from (877) 868-2764 stating something about me and a criminal investigation. He called the number back & left a message. I checked my phone & found that I had gotten this recorded message as well. I also called the number back & left a message. A Jonathan Derock of Lewis & Rowley & Assoc. returned our calls. When I spoke to him, he said that he was from a private investigation company and was hired by the original creditor, Bahamas Marketing Group, to investigate whether this was a case of fraud. He said it was in regards to a payday loan from 2007 and that I was going to be subpoenaed and that I was being charged w/ 2 felony counts and one misdemeanor. I told him that even if this payday loan WAS taken out, (which I have no clue because I've never gotten anything in writing), that if it was an online PDL taken out in California that it was my understanding that you can not be charged or taken to court or anything of that nature. He said, "that's fine, we're not trying to get money from you." I told him I did not understand what was going on and that I needed some sort of documentation. He replied, "Don't worry. You will understand very soon".....was that a THREAT?!? He was very rude! I asked him to spell his company name and asked why I can find NOTHING about them on the internet. His only answer was "we don't work like that".

I don't know what's going on here, but A: CAN a person be charged w/ a felony OR misdemeanor for an online PDL? B: has anyone dealt w/ this "Lewis & Rowley" for Bahamas Marketing Group?

to answer your questions in simple terms.this place is a bottomfeeding bunch of idiots.did a google search for lewis & rowley, and got nothing but similar complaints.BMG can't d sh*t to you,and neither can this bunch of knotheads pretending to be lawyers.nobody can be charged with any crime for defaulting on a pdl.muchless an illegal internet pdl.file a police report for the call.then file AG,and FTC complaints.after that ignore the waste of oxygen as he uses the phone as a therapy session.don't give him your time.

I just got a call from a Mike Brown from a collection agency representing BMG. He called about 7 times in a row. I am at work and had a client in my office, when they left I answerd the phone. This Mike Brown said that I was going to be charged with check fraud, and other charges and would spend 322 day in jail if I didnt pay a sum of over $5000.00 back on a 200.00 check loan. When I told him to stop harrassing me at work and send me a detailed letter showing the break down in charges he said he was going to contact my supervisor at work. I told him that was a privacy policy issue and he got really nasty and thats when I had to hang up on him.

to garnish they need a court order.kinda difficult since the pdl is not located in the US.same goes for the DL.only your secretary of state can take your license or suspend it.totally illegal on their part to threaten that.
