Folks,

After a call earlier in the week from T&C giving me an update, I got a call today from 500FastCash. The guy was clueless.

I told him that T&C was handling my account, and they had already spoken to someone there (I offered name and extension number) and he was like "uh, well, they need to fax over a proposal...uh, yeah, uh, you need to understand yadda yadda" so I cut him off, said that the wheels were in motion and I would call T&C again to make sure they were on the case.

He hung up on me.

Those of you in consolidation...don't let these guys intimidate you, stand your ground!

Eric

I had that happen a lot in the beginning with some of my creditors. I think it's pretty normal because there seems to be a lack of communication in their recovery or collections department with some of these payday lenders. Just inform T &C about it and they will make it a priority. I had one company call me after the proposal was set up with T &C. They were demanding more money and expected me to call T & C to tell them. I told her to call T &C themselves to work it out but that they had already accepted the propsal amount. I just hung up the phone and they never called back. :P

Mishele has a good point here. Inform your counselor about the call so that the proper action can be taken ASAP. I think once they start receiving money from your consolidator, they will stop calling you. Mishele has lots of knowledge on Payday loans, she can put some more points here.

Thank you stanley, I just learned something new today. Heather, what state do you live in? I can look up the laws in your state to see if we can get them to cooperate a little bit more. Heck, I endured all kinds of calls. Sonic called me on the day my father-in-law died so it was pretty upsetting. I tried to tell the woman that but she wouldn't listen. I've even been told I have no rights, I'm a thief, a liar, and so on and so forth. I paid one company off last month and now they say they are going to turn me over to collections. I had to fax a copy of the letter that she sent me last month confirming that my account was considered paid in full. I also stated that if she tried to turn me over to collections, I would file the proper complaints and may pursue legal action against them. So, if you do decided to settle with someone, always get it in writing. I always called T &C when I would get a call from a creditor. I still do, keep them posted it and they will take care of the situation for you. Remember, they might continue to call until regular payments are made. If you don't want them calling you anymore, send them a cease and desist letter and state all correspondence should be done through T &C. That's what I did with some of mine.

I had three calls this weekend from lenders that are in T&C stating that they were going to start criminal proceedings for not paying the loan. I informed them that they are receving payments through T&C and I have a copy of the proposals that they agreed to and signed by them, if they would like I would fax them the contracts. All three miraculously found the notes in the computer and apolized and hung up.

Yeah, I got a call from two of my co-workers that I used only for the purpose of references. Janna from 500FashCash at 1 800 420-3194 ext 5071, call both of them. She told one of them that someone filed a complaint against me. You know, just telling them business. That pissed me off. Harrassing me is not gonna get them their loan back. I thought about bankruptcy to get them off my back, but thought "lets see if I can come up with the money to avoid all that." I wanted to go through the phone and whip Janna's ass so bad because of the way she spoke to me. It ain't like it came out of her pockets. They don't scare me. When I get the money, they'll get it their money.

It seems that we all were misguied in the payday advance fad. I read all the blogs and have had all if not more same type reactions from 500fastcash employees. Just today I supposedly received a call from their legal office demanding payment, the guy ask me to hold on so that he could transfer the call, I did and the next voice I heard was very ****. When I asked who I was speaking with he said his first name and I told him that was not telling me whom I was speaking with, he hung up on me. I will pay the bill that I know I owe, only when I receive something in writing with the dollar amount, and will only pay by money order or cashier check. Never,Never give your banking information to them, they will run a number on you. That is why I will only pay the bill after I receive in writing the total amount due.

Do they qualify as collectors and fall under the fair debt collecting act law? They are harassing me on my home, work and cell # by calling multiple times a day on each and it is very disruptive. I do not know that I actually owe them, I have written down that I had paid off, but I would like to know if I can send them a cease and desist letter?

I live in CA, but the one company is on online company, 500 fast cash and the other is based locally, Check into cash, and since they are operating locally I am assuming that they are licensed, etc. Thanks for the link. That's a lot of information but I think I can figure it out.

If they are illegal in many states why do they get away with making these high interest loans that people have a hard time repaying and then try to go after them when they were struggling to begin with? Does the borrower have recourses?
