Texans cannot be garnished, unless their employer's corporate office is in another state. If you are relocating due to your husbands job, and his checks are drawn on a bank in Texas, you will be OK. Otherwise, yeah, you could be garnished. I am currently getting in the program with T&C. Nice folks there.
Most collection agencies just want money, some money...any money. They don't have to work with a consolidation company if they don't choose to, but there are very few places that won't. I have never worked for an agency that sent a payment back to a debtor. I had several payers that paid me $5 a month.
They look at it like this: if you are paying something, you will probably pay it off, eventually. It costs a company a lot of money to file suit. They will do it if they have to, but they usually look for the people that aren't willing to pay anything.

Georgia is a garnishable state. As far as T&C, they have their own pricing plan, and once you give them your info, they will give you a quote. They are really nice.

I don't know about California, but too bad you are leaving Texas. In Texas, your wages cannot be garnished for anything but government debt or child support, etc. But Beatle is right, if the payment is in another state garnishment is possible.

Thanks for the help.....
I have been reading through this forum, and it seems that even when you set up a plan with T & C that some of these people don't listen. Since I am going to CA they can garnish 25%, is that true even though the debt originated in Texas? I am not disputing the debt, and want to plan with T & C, can anyone give me an idea, of what the payments look like.... My husband told me to go ahead and set it up with the $155 but I want to make sure that I can budget in the payments. How do we stop these people from calling my husbands job? If I send the cease and desist letter, will they listen? I understand that I owe this money, but doesn't them harrassing us give us reason to deduct something.......My husbands job will not tolerate them calling at work. I guess I am just parinoid......UGH

Hi Bags,
Try not to get ahead of yourself and make yourself worry more. I was in your shoes a few months ago so I can understand where you are coming from. Honestly, the payment depends on the amount of debts that you have and the time frame that you will want to pay it off in. I would suggest talking to T &C about this. They are quick to send proposals out to the lenders. They are very aggressive when dealing with payday lenders. We know that you are trying to pay your debts. Sometimes we all need a little help :) Feel free to pm me if you have anymore questions.

It is unfortunate, but yes, they will "get" you in whatever state you live in. I second the motion to talk to T&C. Don't let these creditors bully you. If you can't afford $155, then you can't afford it. T&C will counsel you on the best way to get it taken care of. These creditors want you to pay, rather than to incur all of the court costs that go along with getting a judgement and etc. Don't sweat it. You'll be fine!
