A few weeks ago I went on a rant about UCB. They garnished my state tax return to pay on my medical bills that are part of an accident settlement. They went to collection because OSU hospital refused to accept a letter of protection from my attorney.

WELL...I called today, because the amounts that they have showing on my CR don't match up with my bills. They're going to send me an itemized statement.

The guy on the phone, ("Mr. McGee" I don't know if it's his real name, but it makes me giggle. lol) Said, "I see you made a payment of $242.." I said, "YEAH, that's my tax return that you garnished."

He said, "That makes your balance with us $3516.13."

I said, "All the files you have are for OSU right? For March 1-2 of 2005."

"Yes."

"How come my balance was $3428.11 last time we spoke."

"$88.02 is the garnishment fee."

"A garnishment you took with no judgement.."

"OSU is a State run hospital--"

"Yes, I know...But you didn't have a judgement, and now you're CHARGING me, because you can't read that my case is being handled in an insurance settlement in which you will be paid as soon as we settle this case?"

GRRRRRR

I don't know....Hopefully things with my bills getting settled happen quickly. I just want them gone.

I got another one of the collectors, Rossman to send me what they have, which is my surgury bills...SHe printed off the screen that she sees when we talk..>Cool lady..It also says, "Do not report." Which proves they DO Have the option to report or not report.

Which will aid me in my quest to get these collections off of here.

Jessi, don't know what state yopu live in,but I had a friend that they charged garnishment fee for too,in okla. She argued and they finally dropped the fee, hope this works out ok for you. The weather here was awfull this morning too. Oh yeah, one of my clients(I'm a substance abusr counselor), had to pay to do community service, which I thought was a type of volunteer work. I found out if there is a way to get more money, they will try!! Karen

I live in Ohio.

What is stupid, is when they started calling, I immediately explained to them that this is an insurance case pending a settlement, and if they had any questions they could contact my attorney.

So when it gets paid, it won't be MY money paying it....But STILL...It's stupid.

I will, definately. I'm going to start bugging "Mr McGee" (*giggle*) on Monday and get that in my possession....I should be getting my dr's report pretty soon, and I want to meet with my attorney and get this stuff all taken care of...Then try to see if I can sweet talk some of these collectors to take this stuff off my credit report. (If I succeed in THAT, I will be sure to let everyone know how!)

Yep...they can go bite the big one. Luckily for me, as of right now, Worker's Comp is taking care of my current medical bills. But TRUST ME, I am keeping a CLOSE eye on it. I don't want to get screwed any more than I already am (surgery is in a few weeks though, FINALLY, after much begging and painful diagnostic tests that didn't show anything)

I'm still waiting for my wrist arthroscopy. I have some kind of tendon issue. It's even hard to type sometimes, which sucks!

That sounds SOOOOOO uncomfortable. I know whatcha mean though, my jaw still hurts when it is cold (I broke it in an accident when I was 15)

I remember incisions all too well! When I was 15 and had that partial hysterectomy, the incision are was so sore that I couldn't laugh or cough without feeling searing pain, and the surface skin itched badly when the skin healed. Speaking of sore, myface is sore! I just spent 10.5 hours on the phone activating credit cards and reading scripts that my jaw, cheeks, and forehead feel like they need physical therapy! Bringing out the Icy Hot!

LOL..True...

I meet with my attorney on Thursday...I talked to "Mrs. Gulley" today, and she said that she mailed out my itemized statement yesterday, so I should get it by tomorrow since she's out of the Columbus branch. Just in time to take it to my attorney. :)

I'll let everyone know what it says.
