Have you ever seen first hand what happens when someone complains about collectors lying to the Credit Bureau?? Does anything accually happen?
Do collectors who commit fraud or harrass people acually get reprimanded? Just wondering If complaining does anything and is worth our time.

Annother question... Do they have to have proof that they have a debt in order to search your credit file?

What sources do they use to steal SSNs and other private info?

I tried to find this info when I got frauded out by CollectCorp but the only info thats available is your identity and personal info...

If you have a problem with collectors contact your Attorney Generals office, the FTC and file a report with your local police department. If they are collecting from another state also contact their state Attorney Generals office.

What happens if you complain to the credit bureaus- they tell you to contact the authorities in your state and thiers.

Hope this helped

It takes several complaints being ussed about a company just to start an investigation. Usually from there, the company will be found guilty and forced to cease activity and pay a fine. Just remember, if you are being harassed, then matters like these need to be complained about...even if you still owe the debt.

Mike

I was accually wondering if It matters to complain to the managers of a collection agency, if theres any point. Do the reps even get written up or do they all just roll their eyes and move on to their next victem. I dont know anyone who works for a collection agency but would love to know whnat accually happens, where they steal their info from, and how they get away with fraud.
