Hi Shirley,
Contact Dell directly and ask them to validate and explain what Oxford is doing. Sometimes they will take the account back, validate and work out a payment plan.
Hope this helps,
Deb

On one account, they're showing it as $700, and said it was for a kodak camera and some memory cards. This is their validation-that was it--three line letter. |
It is not a standard validation. You can ask them again what information you are looking for. Is there any wrong data? You can dispute it as well. You have 30 days in your hand.
It has been long with them. So if the amount is correct, you can pay it. Make an agreement of your payment and pay it back. Get out of the trap.

curlycarl, you are absolutely right! I am looking at this the same way---to contact them and get something going. I plan to fax them on monday and offer them a payment arrangement, just to get this out of my hair. Theres still a couple of accounts out there somewhere and I have contacted Dell already. we have been emailing back and forth. This is such a mess that even their recovery special-ist is confussed. She told me to call her so we could talk more on the phone and she will try to help me. she seems really down to earth like she wants to help. couldn't help but laugh when the person in charge of the recovery department doesn't even know whats going on with these accounts.

you mean you found someone at DFS that actually speaks English?

Shirley,
So you have got a response from Oxford, al last. Yea, curlycarl is right. You can consider it as a validation if the amount is correct. Since the rep from Dell was quite helpful, can you confirm it if these two accounts are with Oxford or not. Then you can pay it to them.
What about the other two Dell accounts? I can remember you had four accounts in total, right?

right stan! that is what I'm trying to find out from Dell is where the heck the others are and who has them. at one point, Encore had one and another collection agency had the other...but I have wrote them three times as well asking for validation and have yet to hear anything from them. At lease with oxford, I'm getting something. I'm pretty sure the amount is correct that oxford says we owe. I am going to verify it with the Dell lady, and see what she says. as I said, its not just me thats confused by all of this, even the recovery person who is in charge of this, doesn't even seem to know what is going on. LOL

Shirley, you are right, you want to be over and done with theses, but, make sure you know that 2000 isn't covering the other two Dell accts. You don't want to pay them and them have another CA come along and try to get you to pay twice.! Maybe someone can at least tell you if this is two accounts, one, three or four!Good luck let us know what you find out,

Ok, maybe that was a little harsh. I am sorry is I offended anyone. I was dealing with these jackles around the end of last year, as a matter of fact they called me at 8:15 AM on Christmas Morning!! The kicker was they were only like 9 days past due, and the payment they were looking for was already in their system. But unfortunately the person I was listening to yell at me in a language I never heard of couldn't seem to comprehend that. (this would be when I was considering a fdcpa suit I mentioned in another post). But unfortunately the attorney I consulted informed me that since they were the original creditor, there was nothing I could do since they were not bound by the FDCPA (there are some other details I didn't go into here).

I'm not offended,Clay.Believe me,I know about people, well, not really people, calling and harassing .lol I'm dealin with the vultures of LVNV,Resurgent,phillips-cowan,all of them yellin threatening to sue and garnish salary, when all I keep saying over and over and over,I just want to make payments and get this thing paid off.I know how frustrating gettin calls and getting yelled at can be. This forum helped save my sanity, what was left of it!!!
Oh I'm not offended either Clay, I know what jack@sses they are!
