karinlewis, I appreciate your willingness to pay your bills.
karinlewis,
I appreciate your willingness to pay your bills. You can get out of your credit card bills through consolidation program. I would suggest you taking free counseling offered by this site.
By consolidating your debts, you will be paying one monthly installment for all your unsecured debts and the amount will be within your ability. The counselor will explain your options in details and will answer to all of your queries. You can fill out the registration form of this site to receive the consultation. It's free.

karinlewis--Stan is right, consolidation would be a big help to you. Are you credit cards status current or is it out of the statues of limitations? You need to pat youself on the back for wanting to get this taken care of,instead of ignoring it,like I've done in the past. Have you talked with your creditors and explained you are on disability? I handle my adult son's finances who is on disability, and have talked with his creditors, trying to get his mess straightened out and surprisingly enough some have been kind and willing to work with us. If you join the forum, you can become acquainted with others in your situation, who have been where you are and tell you how they are trying to become debt free. When you join, there is free counseling(debt) and they can help you decide your next step. Good Luck and hang in there :D

You are right Karen. Creditors often cooperate with consumers especially when there are sufficient reasons for falling behind with payments. Karinlewis, if the cards are still with original creditor, you can contact them too. Keep us posted.
