Has anyone ever heard of Route 66 Funding? They have never sent me any paperwork, I can't find them on the internet, and the emails they've sent me have no address information whatsoever. They're calling my office 3 or 4 times a day and it's always a guy who barely speaks English on the phone who just says I owe them money. I have to ask 2 or 3 times what company he is with before he tells me, and then when I ask for the address he hangs up. Any info anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

These crooks were zapping my checking account for almost 6 months before I caught onto them, never did business with them. I placed a stop payment, doesn't work. You need to close your account completely and open another. I tried to file a Reg-E claim with my bank to get the almost $400 they took back, they told my bank they have a recorded telephone call authorizing the debits. My bank told me to fight with Route 66 in order to get my money back. I think that is highly unlikely.

Yeah, they are "located" in the UK, so they aren't going to follow any US laws, so they say. They are impossible to deal with. Maybe if you hired an attorney . . . . But if you don't have a loan with them then I'd fight your bank. The fact is you didn't authorize anything, and a voice recording is not proof. You have to have a signature. I'd go back and appeal your banks decision.

These people never will stop, they call me at work repeatedly. I closed my checking account and finally was able to stop thier 75 dollar withdrawls. It is illegal for them to continually call at work. The last time they got through to me they said "No this will only take one minute, you must pay us now" This is the worst company by far I have ever done a PDL with. Try to stick with CashNet USA, they seem to be the easiest to deal with.

Not trying to be a wet blanket here, but I feel I have to respond to the advice above. The best policy is NO PDL's at all - it is far too easy to fall into the vicious cycle of one PDL..then another to help pay off the first one when some misfortune befalls us and we can't pay our first PDL...then we can't pay off the second one because we're trying to use that money to pay off the first one...so we take out another...and another..and another...until we reach the point of fishing around on the internet looking for an internet PDL that will loan to us so we can try to get this all resolved. Even when we keep thinking to ourselves "just one more time - I won't have to do it again after this one!"

It never ends, and it never will, unless you break the cycle yourself by paying your PDL's off and not taking any more out. The internet PDL's are a sure way to win yourself a lot of heartache, stress, and high interest rates and fees that never, ever end.

Save yourself the trouble now, and break the cycle. I have, and am almost out of the woods now - and I will never have another PDL. I will do without whatever it is until I have the money myself before I will resort to another PDL.

I AM THE DEBT-DEFEATING WOMAN - HEAR ME ROOOOAR!

I received a loan through these people months ago.
They continued to take $79.00 from my bank account every two weeks for 4 to 5 weeks. I wanted to pay this damn loan off at the beginning.
I finally stopped payment on this account. They harrassed me for awhile until I told them I had closed the account and they had no access to my new account.
I did make the mistake of offering a $100.00 settlement. They did not respond to my email until now. It has been since about October.
Now they just called me and asked me about the settlement I offered them. What should I do? I want to tell them to go to #$%^. They already got $317.00 out of me for a $200.00 loan. I also reported them to the BBB, the Federal Trade Commision and a few other places.
Please let me know what I should do. :?

Then I will do the same thing. It took them a month a half to try to settle this. Screw them. I am done.
Thank you for the advice.
They originally wanted me to pay over $500 to close the account. I told them they would be lucky.
I am done with them.
Thanks Again.

people be strong this people call my job eveyday with different names and they are told repeatedly that i'm on medical leave...they call me early in the morning and late at night.

they still want $500 on a 200 loan that i've paid 1770. they are nuts!!!
i email them everyday about 50 times or more depends on how mad they make me, it may sound sick but hey i'm on bedrest i have nothing more to do and they don't seem o understand when i talke to them.

so lets all stick together and see the outcome of it all.

I agree . . . . They don't respond to any complaints in a satisfactory way. It's seems the only way to get them off your back is to pay. But I'm not paying them another cent. I guess we'll see what happens next. By the way, I have the phone number to their new "legal" deptartment. It's 1-877-646-9618.

On another note, I tried calling the collections number using the recording feature on this website. It wouldn't work. I tried calling the number without and it went through. I hung up and was trying the recording thing again when rt 66 called me back. Seems they are blocking debt cc's recording number, and have caller ID hooked into their computers. They called me back immediatly after I hung up and said my name, and my phone isn't in my name, so it couldn't be regualr caller id.

I just sent them an email stating that my offer expired and they will not receive any more money from me.
I did try to call the number back that "Anthony Thomas", or whatever his real name is, gave me. That number is 1-877-290-5259. No answer at all. Not even a message machine.
So screw them. I told them not to call me again.
We shall see.

I got the right address for route66 funding. They are not in the UK or New York. They are in Reno Nevada. I git this out of them when I told them I had a lawyer and the only way they would get anything is if I had a CORRECT address

route66/HBS Service

My husband was having health problems and I thought this was perfect but it has been a nightmare. The phone number 877-564-7738 is the right number and they told me that they will charge my account every two weeks a processing fee it does reduce by $5.00 and until it gets to $35.00 and then you have to pay the loan off. My loan was for $200 so I would have to pay $235 at that time. If you can pay this off as soon as possible please do because they are going to take you for everything. THis was a very bad idea and there should be a law about this.
I hope everyone has a happy Holiday.

contact your bank Kelli and they have all of the necessary information for you to pay what YOU owe. i went through this with them and didn't have a problem once I sent the balance of what I owed. They gave me a high amount also but I sent the original loan and fee and haven't heard from them since.

I called Route 66 funding asking for a truth in lending act disclosure...The person on the phone "gary smith" Rudely said "I dont have to give you anything...I explained that The truth in lending act requires a written disclosure, and he said "we won't give you anything" then he went on to tell me that "he knows what kind of person I am, and Is going to Debit my checking account 16 times just so I could be charged overdraft fees" I asked him " are you threatning me?" and he said "YES I AM" and hung up on me. I called back and asked for a manager who apologized and said they would review the tapes and assured me they would not debit the account 16 times...This is a clear violation of FAIR DEBT collection practices act...WHAT CAN I DO??

You need to file complaints with your state's Attorney General's office. Block this company from debiting your account, you will also need to debt GFS/GFSIL, and there is one other name this company goes by I can not remember it. You bank will charge you a fee for blocking this company, but WELL worth it.

Regarding someone????????s question on Route 66 Funding: Avoid these guys like the plague! They are SCUM ???????? SCUM ???????? SCUM!! I have never taken out a loan with them, but one of my wife????????s former co-workers did, and after the experience she and her associates had, I would gladly eat worms before I would borrow the price of a Big Mac from these jackals. Here????????s what happened;
A gal my wife worked with apparently took out a loan with Route 66 Funding. After a time, she left the company without leaving any forwarding information. After she had been gone for over a year the shop began getting calls from R66 regarding her apparently delinquent account. (No one currently in the shop had ever heard of this company before) They explained to them that she was no longer working there and they could not help locate her. The representatives, who spoke only fair English, at once became even nastier, saying their ???????Co-operation was mandatory??????? and told those employees who had identified themselves by their first names that they were also listed as co-signers and were therefore liable for the debt. They told the callers to stop insulting their intelligence as they had never signed anything and didn????????t even know their last names, upon which they were told; ???????It was a verbal phone agreement and we have recordings of your voice to use in court! You will be getting legal papers!??????? and promptly hung up. (Puleeeze!) Needless to say, no papers ever arrived, but the calls, threats and harassment persisted until management intervened with a Cease-And-Desist order, a complaint to the FTC and basically informed R66 they would be sued into destitution if they ever heard from them again. The vermin gave up and backed off after that. The ironic part is two weeks later, they did get a visit from the former employee, but Satan will be skiing to work by the time R66 hears about it!

I work here in London. It is a money making scheme and it is legal because it is offshored in the UK. Unfortunately people desperate enough to take out an unsecure loan of only about $200 are probably the people that don't listen to the terms and conditions given to them verbally; they need money fast and the t&C aren't really on the top agenda.
They make the money by ruling out interest and using the term 'processing fees' to rope in customers. This is probably worse than interest- every time you receive your wage, be it weekly / bi-wkly/semi-monthly and you haven't paid the original loan, you need to pay the processing fee. What can start out as a $200 can surmount to a huge sum.
It is legitimate, although entirely unreasonable, but if you agreed to the terms over the phone then you have noone else to blame- there will always be people out there making money under these kind of practices.

First off, worker it is NOT legitimate. We have a term for what you are doing here in the USA: loansharking. And no, that it not legitimate or legal.
If you want to do business in the USA, you need to follow and abide by US and state law--and that includes being licensed to do business in states where you loan and following their laws re loaning. And following the fdcpa would also be appreciated as well!

Just an update: Route 66 no longer calls my wife????????s workplace, but either them or ameriloan, (Are they the same, does anyone know?) has begun pestering the company I work for, and using what appears to be a new tactic and something you guys might want to watch out for at your own workplaces. The guy they are looking for hasn????????t worked for us in almost 5 years and by some accounts, may even have died. They call the front office and use ???????Pretexting??????? (Phising for info under false pretenses) to find out who works where in certain departments. They then call back and ask for an active employee and when that person answers, pretend to be a friend or relative of the former employee to worm info out of them and even threaten legal action. Some of our office staff aren????????t exactly English majors either, and fell for this for a time until management clued them in. Now, they just call after hours and leave vague and nasty messages in whatever voicemail they can access. Pathetic!
