Ok....

I've been waiting on validation from Asset and CBA regarding an SBC account from 2000.

Asset sent me a nice validation letter, but hadn't heard from CBA yet.

So I googled them, and found their number and called. The lady who answered sounded kinda "duhhhh" and after putting me on hold she figured out how to look up my account. Apparently it was archived, so she had to get help to pull it up...This took about 10 mins. At this point, I'm a little irritated. She got on and said, "You have a zero balance." I said, "Not according to my credit report." She said, "It's on your credit report?" I said, "I'm looking at it right now. And I'm paying this account through another company, why are you reporting to my credit report?" So back on hold I go.

She came back on about 7 minutes later and said that she is mailing out a delete letter today and I should get it by the end of the week.

YAY! One more gone! :) Apparently they held this account at one time, but sent it back to SBC, and at that point it should have come off my report.

Funny thing is, this is my SECOND dispute on CBA...Shady.

I have dealt with CBA before (i even posteed about them here a long time ago) I found them to be very honest and respectable. They seem to deal in full compliance with the laws . When they are wrong, they take care of the problems.

They don't seem to play the games that that many of the more infamous agencies play. It is for this reason that If I ever have reason to deal with them again (hopefully I won't) I will be sure and address that issue ASAP.

LessIsMore,

I agree with you 100 %. My husband and I recently entered into a debt managment program and we had some problems with the original monthly payment. I forgot to add the interest on a couple of personal loans which almost doubled those two amounts. Scarey, isn't it? Anyway, the payment went up and I wasn't sure how we could afford it. We almost stretched it out another nine months but that kind of scared us both since we want to be debt free in the next couple of years. So, we decided to bite the bullet and do the larger amount at the same length period as we first signed up with. When we can, we are going to start paying more to get these debts settled even more. We are finding ways to bring in extra money and to quit wasting money. We have been writing down our expenses, including things like buying a soda or little extra's at the check out lane at the grocery store. It boggles my mind how quickly these little purchases actually add up. We are just nickeling and diming ourselves to death right now. It would be nice to hear more success stories. Jessi, I'm glad things are taking a positive turn for you now. :-)

HIP HIP HORRAY FOR JESSI :D Way to go Jessi! It sure is a relief, huh?! I called Cap 1 and bit the bullet and made a larger payment plan with them. Hopefully our tax refund will pay off IRS,thak God,so I took their payment and added it to Cap 1 to pay them off sooner. I asked her to drop the interest, but she said to do that I would have to pay another 50 dollars more. I know from experience not to stretch myself, and told her,I would rather make a payment I know I can make than make plans for a bigger one I may not be able too. I plan on paying for two or three months and calling back and asking again, never hurts to ask! I thin we need to see on this forum more of how people are making progress and getting out of debt. It helps give hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnell. Keep it up girl  Karen

You're right Jessi,I might just make one more and say hey,I'm making a payment plan and we could both get rid of this alot sooner if you would drop the finance charges, thanks sometimes I forget who's in charge :D Speakin of thah,I was a little too in charge at the min-mart the other day. Me,my mom,and my youngest son were at the store,I was paying and noticed that on the display as he rang things up it said deli sandwich $2.39,so I said to him,I didn't get a sandwich. He ignored me and kept ringing up,so I said it again a little louder and he again ignored me. Finally I said hey--I didn't get a sandwich,to which my 25 year old spoke up and said, mom, that is just advertisement on the screen.  My son said, and you wonder why I don't go places with you  So I guess I better be sure of what I am sayin or at least know what I am talking about  Karen
