Okay, if my day couldn't get any worse, I check my emails and low and behold an email from Sonic. To my surprise, this is what the email stated.

Quote:
May 1, 2006

We are sorry for any hardships that you may have been caused.

On that basis, we have written off the balance of your account effective immediately. We have removed notice of this debt from your credit bureau and our company shall place no derogatory marks against yourself with any credit bureau.

We trust the above is to your satisfaction.

Kind regards

How did she get Sonic you ask? If memory serves me, she got them in a headlock and beat their heads in with a herring until they screamed uncle, then gave them atomic wedgies and ran their briefs up a flagpole.

Just kidding. She was persistent with the cease comms and dispute letter, kept her consolidator and all legal aid close at hand, and she did not stop fighting them until they admitted wrongdoing. It may be an uphill battle, but all hills come to an apex.

I am glad so many people are having success getting these loan sharks to forgive their debts with them. but I must make a cautionary statement. Many of the letters are using phrases like "written off" , PLEASE BE CAREFUL! This is another way of saying "charge off", which may leave the account in collections.

Make sure they specifically state (as Sonic did here) that they are marking the account "CLOSED" and they the will remove any derogatory reports made to and credit bureaus, and finally that they (their agents or assigns) will make nor future attempts to collect theses debts.

Keep hard copies of these letters, emails etc for at least 7, but preferably at least 10 years. When printing emails, try and print all header information to establish the email indeed originated form the creditor in questions, and wasn't made up.

I emailed and faxed them every three hours til they finally responded. I hit them with all the laws they have violated, the threats they issue, mentioned anout the voluntary wage assignment and digital signature, included the letter to the attorney generals in the United States and the letter to the attorney general in BC, Malta and Consumer Affairs of BC. I hit them where it hurt and they backed down. You have to use the laws they are violating against them in order to get them.
