Hey guys,

I got throughmy marketing research class with all straight A's, throughout the semester we had to make up our own marketing research project. Mine was based on something that's been on my mind for quite some time.

I cancelled my subscriptions to Cosmo, Marie Claire, Mademoiselle, and Glamour two years ago because it was so full of repetitive and contridictory fluff. By that I mean every month would have articles on accepting yourself as is, and articles on tummy tucks, lipo, and **** jobs. It also had articles about enjoying your independence, and articles about what men want and how to please men. And they weren't talking about real men, but dink-shaking, armpit scratching apes. There were also articles about respecting yourself, and completely contradictory acticles about how to "properly" screw around. Overall, full of fluff and tacky fashion hints.

I also wondered if any of those guy magazines like Maxim and Stuff had any information about what women want, and how to please them. Guess what i found instead....more dink-shaking, armpit scartching waffle.

So I thought that the intellectual and socially independent women out there such as myself, and mnay of you here in the forum, could really use some quality monthly reading material. So, for Marketing Research, I came up with "Synergy", a magazine buy and for intellectually independent women, not trend chasers reading Glamour.

"Synergy" is full of articles about psychology, career enrichment, philosophy, health, and other information vital for intellectual and spiritual enrichment. My project got rave reviews from my professor, my research was 100% accurate, and now I'm seriously considering being my own boss and making "Synergy" a reality.

Thank you Vikas! The response my idea has gotten from this forum, family, and friends convinces me that this magazine will be huge!

I do think it would be good to pilot the magazine from yesdebtfree, and when I have Namo WebEditor all figured out, the magazine will have it's own site.

I know that my new editing staff is brainstorming right now, my mom is going to pitch in some fitness and nutrition editorials, and I've asked my brother to pitch in some graphic art.

People are grabbing ideas left and right to the point where I have to look a little harder for soemthing to write about. I am so grateful to have several members of the target audience as writers! This really will be a magazine by and for intellectual, independent women!

Karen,

I hope you kicked that crazy holy-roller in the pants for that one! Doesn't it just get your goat when people try to undermine your parenting tactics? You're a psychologist, and I'm sure you have a good head on your shoulders and have very good rapport and understanding with your son. I would find it very insulting for some bible black nut to try and impugne on my relationship with my child!

Your right Ari-she is a BIG nut,and my ex deservers her!My son is so much like me,he told her "well,I guess I'll see you in hell too since you're crazy and judging me" She is the reason my son,who is grown today, and his father have no relationship. I fired off a nasty email to him a month ago to try to get hin to help me buy a mattress for his son,who is on disability, and he won't help,so I told him what a crap of a father he was. I don't care if our son is grown or not,he needs help. Thank God for my husband now,he has raised my son for 26 years, since he was 6 years old, without a gripe one about what he needs.Get me off my soapbox :x Oh,I'll get you an article pmd to u in a few days. My youngest son came by last night, his girlfriend had to be taken to hospital. She fell, and unknown to me,was 8 weeks pregnant. Anyway, she ednded up having to have emergency surgery, they found out the pregnancy was in her tube, and had to remove the tube. They of course have no insurance,so I paid for the pain meds, but she still is throwing up and can keep nothing down,so we may have to go back to hospital. Oh,thanks for the compliment, but, I'm not a psychologist,I'm a Substance Abuse Counselor, dealing with addictions and family counseling.I'm really excited about this and I think Epiphany is a great title-explains it all!!..Karen

I will launch "Epiphany" just as soon as everyone who plans to contribute an editorial has done so and I have created the web page. I'm looking forward to the pilot issue myself!

I also found those articles pointless! And repetitive! Overloaded with boring advertisements, full of crappy opinions from men I wouldn't give the time of day to, tacky and insanely expensive fashion advice, and their fitness and nutrition advice is all about losing as much weight as possible, having a concave stomach and a gravity-defying ass when it should be about having a healthy body and mind! As an intellectual who doesn not give a rat's hat about what some braindead male monkey thinks about me, I find that information to be dumber than my left cheek! :x

But impressed. Sounds very much like something I would like to have my wife and daughters read, rather than Cosmo or some of the other "fine" publications that were mentioned. I'll echo the sentiments of many others that have chimed in, and ask you to PLEASE let us know when you get published.

Thanks
