Is this a JOKE???

Quote:
Dear Jessica:

We are in receipt of your recent correspondence, however, it is extremely difficult to make meaningful arrangements regarding payment of an account through the mail.

We are willing to work out a payment arrangement on your account.

As of the date of this letter, you owe $.01. Because of interest, late charges, and other charges that may vary from day to day, the amount due on the day you pay may be greater. Hence, if you pay the amount shown above, and adjustment may be necessary after we receive your check, in which event we will inform you.

Please contact our office by telephone today. Call the number listed above.

Yours very truly,

Brian Gentry

No, I did not mistype that....The want ONE PENNY. This is the same company that called 4 of my coworkers and told them that he was going to garnish my wages.

I'm tempted to send a nickel and say "Keep the change". What freaks!

LMAO! This is F@&ing hilarious! All this hoopla over a silly penny! What is the world coming to when these collectors make a fuss over a penny??? At my old job, we'd settle for thousands of bucks off and call that a victory!!!

And what exactly is a payment arrangement on a penny?? Holy christmas!!!

This Brian Gentry guy must have the IQ of my left cheek! either that or this is a system generated letter and he has no idea of it! He is really embarassing his company!

I never imagined that collections could be this tactless, and believe me I can imagine a lot!

Say what? Now this is absurd after they violated the law by disclosing the information to your co-workers. I would send him a pile of dog crap and call it even. Man, I've heard it all now or maybe it will get better after your phone conversation. Tell him you can send him half now and half in six months LMAO! Sorry, I couldn't resist myself.

Pick the stamp off, stick it back in the envelope, and write return to sender so they get it back.

OR Ask for a validation letter, then dispute it. And keep copies of everything they send.

OR tell them you only have a 1 $ bill and dont havbe change and they should call you when the interest reaches a dollar.

You cant prove that you paid them if you put a penny in the envelope, and Im not sure if you can accually write and cash a check for a penny. I think it costs more for the bank to cash it.

String it along as long as you can. Make it cost them a few bucks for being morons.

Funny. Don't mess around with them though. My friend owed a nickel and the company ended up sending her a bill for $15.05 the following month saying the $15 was a LATE FEE. What jokers. I had to explain to my friend that it is probably a computer that makes up these letters.

Good luck.

What's even worse, is I don't owe these clowns ANYTHING....They're collecting for Sallie Mae, on a student loan that I owed $5 on. They wanted $100 collection fee on a $5 debt. I called Sallie and took care of it, but these guys don't want to let up. Now I get a bill for a penny. What a jerko.
