They're all scams in Texas because they get around the state PDL laws by becoming "brokers" for the actual lender that's usually out of state. These gusy "aren't satisfied with generous terms of state law, so they exploit a loophole that allows them to partner with out of state bnks tht allow them to charge as much as they want." The Texas Finance Commission supposedly adopted guidelines in 2000 said that lenders could charge $10 per loan fee, plus 48 percent annual interest. But the companies weren't satisfied and that's why they found the loophole via the "unregulated Credit Service Organization status as a way to evade nre federal guidelines. The Texas Credit Services Organization (CSO) Act permits companies to act as loan brokers. These CSOs are not licensed by the Texas Office of consumer Credit Commisioner and their fees are completely unregulated." Can you believe that schitt? "Some payday loans can end up costing consumers more than 900 percent." Ridiculous! And these guys have the right to threaten us with "HOT CHECK" prosecution? Worse yet, they can ruin our check writing priviledges and screw our credit reports because of a loophole that allows them to bilk us out of 100's of dollars? That doesn't seem fair, does it?
Like I said earlier, I'm just learning about PDLs and that we consumers actually have a leg to stand on. For all you guys who backed these leeches off by telling them that they're not liscensed in your s state. "Kudos" to ya'. But I cannot believe that they have this kind of power to virtually run rough-shod over us like this and to ruin our finances. Many of us have paid these guys back several times over and they still call your phone like you've never paid them one red cent. I guess what I'm trying to find is recourse. Anybody out there versed in law to the point of helping us get our money back, even from store fronts? I'm so broke that I can see straight and I'm tired of paying these chumps. Input would be appreciated.

I think that most of us are in the same boat and are tired of paying these people. I agree that I would like to get my money back but at this point I am just happy that they'll write off my balance. We were in this payday loan cycle for over 5 years and the longer it went on the more vicious it got. I remember the first time we got one and then another and then another, etc. It seemed so easy and so harmless back then. I am one of the people who have been using the licensing/unlicensed lender information in my state and it's worked on some. I personally think these places need to be SHUT down but I also believe that the economy in America swings so bad that there are people who absolutely cannot live paycheck to paycheck. Until someone much bigger than us gets involved we won't really impact much, oh we may get some of the internet lenders to be licensed in our states but are we doing anyone any good by doing that?? I don't think so. Until all 50 states in America outlaw payday loans these sharks will continue to take money from innocent people who have made mistakes and cannot get a legitimate loan from a legitimate bank/credit union. Let's keep fighting for our rights and stand up to those we can and maybe just maybe we can make a difference.

US has a total population more than 885 million. Can't we all join together and fight with the bad ones doing wrong business. They might be a microscopic fraction only!!

We can definitely put a strong and legal fight when we will learn about the laws in our respective states. The PDL companies bank on those people having financial problems. They don't succeed on those who are well informed and proactive. When we will learn to use our legal powers, the scammers will run away. There has to be logic in every action. We have to be cautious right from the first move before giving them the chance to scam us.
