I have recently been bombared with phone calls from allied interstate. I spoke with a representative who was extremely rude and threatening to me. Is the best option to send a validation letter to the CA? Also the representative said that he was going to file a suit against me that night because I refused to pay in full right then, is this correct procedure or is he just trying to bully me? Thank for any help in advance!

Educate yourself with the FDCPA laws mentioned in the FTC website.
Allied interstate is in violation of the federal laws by being extremely rude in debt collection practices. Besides, they have been reported to the BBB and FTC for many other conduct violations. You must also file your complaints at the local AG's office.

Know if the company is having your account info in legitimate terms. You must ask them to validate the debt and give you a clear picture about the creditor for which they are collecting. They must also clearly specify the principal amount along with the interest charges.

Check the SOL in your state. Unsecured debts go out of the SOL period after 4-5 years based on the date of last payment. If you have not done any payment within this period, you might legally refuse to pay a legitimate account.
