After several calls, I heard from United Federal, the third-party agency who WAS handling my Platinum B loan after my bank account closed. They were so rude...and breaking federal collection laws left and right.

Received a nasty call yesterday from some guy with a thick Indian accent I could barely understand. He threatened to file suit on me if I didn't pay $580. On a $200 loan...don't think so, buddy! Asked to validate the debt, but he would not give me an address or FAX to send a debt verification letter. Then they "wished me luck" and hung up.

I filed complaints with the FTC and Florida AG immediately...and contacted Dustin @ Platinum B to let him know what was happening. I am willing to pay what I owe, but not one cent more!! Dustin sent a very nice e-mail back within two hours.

He apologized for my experience, thanked me for notifying him, and offered to bring my debt back from United and have it handled in-house. I am hoping to settle with him tomorrow for the original $200 loan principle, payable $50 per month. We'll see if he agrees to this...

Talked with Dustin at Platinum B awhile ago...he was very apologetic for the illegal/rude tactics used by United Federal and said they are looking for another agency to use. He is bringing my loan balance back in house and is trying to make arrangements with me.

He is asking for $200 principle + $60 finance + $30 NSF fee from bank. Sounds reasonable since I took the loan out again (refinance) and then decided to go w/T&C before making even one payment. I proposed to pay $50 in June and July, then the balance in August (when my settlement payments to Cash Advance Now and AIM are paid off and I'll have more money). He said he had to check w/Collections Dept. and would get back with me later today.

I am thinking I need to call and cancel with T&C. They are a great company, but I managed to handle most of my PDLs myself and get them written off. Only Platinum B, Worldwide Cash, and ameriloan remained with them as of last Friday.

Platinum B will only work with me directly, and Ameriloan has said they have received "the letter" and are deciding how to proceed. I am thinking they will zero out my balance too. WWCN has already said they would accept $20/month from me if I decide to not go with T&C.

So...need to make a decision...

Thanks Wendy... your info helped me get Dustin to work with me as well. He brought the account back "in house" and saved me from having to deal with the terrible collection agency anymore, as well as saving me $340.
