Please tell me how to check my credit report to see if the company I sent a DV to, is not reporting something incorrectly.

I have already gotten my free yearly credit reports from the three agencies.

Hi, welcome to the forums!

If you're wanting to get an updated copy of your credit report, you can do so by calling the site you registered for online. They'll send you one more updated report for free, only after verifying some information from you. Did you use freecreditreport.com, or some other site?

Regards-
Mike

the Federal Trade Commission has established (not to be confused with freecreditreport.com which is run by experian and required you to sign up for their credit monitoring service for a 30 trial membership, which automatically bill to the credit card you have to provide at the end of that time).

At annualcreditreportdotcom you can request all three major Credit Reporting Agencies reports on line. The FTC has also established a toll free number to call to order all three reports . That number is (877) FACT ACT .

When you link to each one through that site, you will be asked questions based on your credit report that only you would know to verify your identity. Just so you know, these questions may be worded to catch someone other than you in a lie. For example they may say something like" in August 2005 you applied for a mortgage. Who issued that mortgage
A. Chase B. Bank of America C.1sf Small town bank D None of the above" IF you didn't or it wasn't through one of them, then check D.

You can also call each CRA directly and request a free credit report once every 12 months (this is a rolling basis, not calendar year.
Their numbers are:
Equifax: 1-800-685-1111
Experian: 888 397 3742
Trans Union:800-916-8800 Trans Union doesn't actually list a number to contact them on their website, that number is one I took from an old credit report. You will find that Trans Union is the most likely to be wrong, and the hardest to deal with. Experian is more often right, but hard to deal with when disputing information. Equifax seems to be the most accurate, and the easiest to deal with.

IF you would like to opt out from press screened offers of credit or other services, you can opt out from all CRA at optoutprescreen.com/opt_form.cgi.

I hope this helps, please come back and let the community know what kind of result your were able to achieve.

IF you have already received your free reports, then you can purchase additional reports for about $10 per copy. If you dispute an item from the reports you received, the CRA is required to issue you a new report if changes to your report result from their investigation.

once you have used your free reports under the FACT ACT, any additional reports need to be paid for, usually about $8 to $10. Do not get credit reports from any one other than the Credit bureaus them selves, as there is sometimes information which is on the reports, which does not show on reports provided through a third party.
Request additional vredit reprots directly from Equifax, Experian and Transunion.

You are asking the CA to validate the debt. If they don't respond to your request and have reported in your credit file negatively, you need to place the item on dispute with the bureaus. They will verify the item and if your dispute is found correct, your file will be corrected and a free copy will be sent to your mailing address.
