Boy do I know how to pick the winners. This place calls me for the 1st time in 5 months about a past due amount. I had a $350 loan from them and during the fall/early winter payed around $1000 in interest. I think I left the account with around a $100 balance.

If you read my notes about CashToday I had only paid 3 of the $79's for a total of around $218 on the $200. So sending them some money to leave me alone was not that bad considering what some have paid.

With CashNet. Man - I have already paid almost 3X the amount. What do they want? And who are these people to contact you so far after the fact. Just when you think you are in the clear some slimeball PDL just has to call and stress you out all over again.

Are they based in the US? That would be good news as they would be bound to at least some laws.

I am not paying them anymore. If anything I think they owe me a refund.

Check out for the laws in your state and write a letter to CashNet500 mentioning that you have paid more than the original amount. It will be good enough to have your bank statements as proof of the matter.

The company has to prove in writing that their is a balance owed before you make a payment. This will be a proof of them charging excessively towards your account. You can then take actions against them.

Those jerks are right up there with cashtoday and UCL..I had a long and vigorous battle with them a couple weeks ago.
I owed them $390 after I stopped paying them. I paid them over $1000 on a$300 loan.
They now say I owe them over $700 in fees and interest. They are terrible to try and deal with. I've sent them numerous letters, phone calls, and emails to no avail and their response has been the same.
They are sticking with the "law in utah" story and won't budge to even try to negotiate....so good luck. My only recourse is now an attorney.
If you have better luck, please let me know...

erz - what kind of loan did you have? I had a $350 that was charged $30 per hundred that was paid down in $50 increments after 2 months or so. I think I paid around $1000 and have a balance of $100.

What gets me is why do these places wait 5 months after the fact? For the interest and fees to build up?

We will see how this goes. You think they would be happy with what they got.

Carl - easier said than done.

Glynnie,

They have done this to me as well. They are quiet for awhile and then out of the blue they will fax me at work after being told not to contact me at work in any shape or form. They are a US company based out of Utah I believe. You can find their address on their website and no they are not licensed in Ohio. I would file a complaint with the division of financial institutuions and the attorney general's office regarding this matter. They never respond to me. :x

Michelle -so far its only been 1 phone call. I will keep you all posted.

Just so dissapointing to get that sinking feeling back again when I thought I was finally done with it all ( thanks for runing my weekend ) . I had paid it down to $100 so I had assumed that they simply wrote the rest off considering how much I had paid on it.

I don't know if its policy to let a loan sit and collect fees or if its some collector digging through the trash trying to make their quota. Either way they caught me at a bad time after I had to deal with CashToday a couple of weeks ago in a similiar "I thought they forgot about me" deal.

Simply amazes me how these places have the nerve to ask for more after so long and after I have already paid so much. They truly have no shame.

Last contact I had with Cashtoday the guy from their "legal department" told me he was going to file suit under the ohio revised code. I said, "Which one is that, because I seem to remember reading something about the fact that you're not licensed--" and then he hung up on me.

Tell them to bug off...When it comes down to the fact, if they're not licensed, they don't have a leg to stand on. Especially if you've paid back at least what you borrowed.

Jessi - you are one of the few people who can pull that off. Others have had Cashtoday ( other threads ) call them 30 times per day.

With Cashnet I know its not legally binding because it violates the allowable interest rate of 25% allowed in Michigan. I know that now, did not know that at the time of the loan.

I am just disapointed to have to deal with this now when I thought it was over. Its like one of those horror movies when the creep keeps getting up and comming back to life to try and get you.

Check your state laws, because in Ohio if they are not licensed and bring suit against you, they can be arrested. Glynnie, I know, some of mine are coming out of the woodwork now too when I thought matters were settled. I guess not and we just have to deal with these things as they come up. I'm fighting one on a daily basis now and another one I have to file complaints against because they are breaking state and federal laws now. We just need to keep everything documented and stand our ground. We know our rights now :)

Jess - is it CashNet or CashToday that is calling you 30 times a day? Sounds like a CashToday tactic.

Michele - from what I gather unless you live in Nevada or Utah you do not have much to worry about legally on a defaulted payday loan. Just all the BS is so tiring. Some moron combing around for loose change "Hey here is one - they still have a balance". What gets me is how can they call after 5 or 6 months and say its an "Urgent Matter". I am so sick of these places and rue the day I ever took out one. Had no idea these types of people owned busnisses - I thought these tactics were reserved for gangsters.

It is inspiring me to not let anything go. I was willing before to just let things go even with the ones I have paid off long ago. These places need to be out of business.

Glynnie,

I agree with you one hundred percent. They e-mail me and I respond, they ignore me. They send faxes at work after they have been told not to contact me at work in any manner. I'm sure they will be quiet for awhile and start the process again. Believe me, I will never take out another pdl, it's been several months now. It's not worth the headache that we've all be going through but we can share our experiences with others going through the same thing. I filed a complaint against one company and today I get a letter stating they never even accepted my debt consolidation company. I have a copy of the signed proposal from the debt consolidation company that I used to work with. They were one of the first ones to agree to it in the first place. I will just send the information as a follow up to my complaint. They have deducted a couple of hundred dollars off my account but they are not licensed in my state. I have paid these loans ten times over. There will be more complaints to file against this company, especially in my state. It seems like it is a never ending process but maybe we are helping in getting these places shut down. I know I have cost one person their job for harassing me at work. This is from a totally different company.
